Only good for laughs
Bought this as a Christmas present for my granddaughter. What a waste of money! The only thing it's good for is a laugh. Clearly not 'written' to be used in the US. Ingredients and directions for the majority of recipes are a joke. Here's an example: "Mood killer the stove and let them stay inside for 5 additional minutes, at that point expel". And another: "get up and go the skin of the lemon". Really??? I think most of the recipes are translations of translations. And this is why I hate to shop online. PS - I couldn't submit this review without an overall rating - so please disregard the 1 star, it doesn't deserve any.
Important approach
Everything written in this book makes sense, definitely a good read! I recommend this book and would read more books from this author.
Cute book for beginners
Ok for my 12 year old granddaughter who is learning to cook and bake
Introduction to baking for fun in the kitchen
All written cookbook for children 8 to 14 to have fun learning baking skills. My granddaughters really love the recipes and learning skills.
This is a Baking Joke Book
My mother sent this to my 14 yo daughter who has taken up baking during the quarantine. The cover looks like picture here on Amazon but the book is nothing like some of these reviewers descriptions. Black and white. NO instructions on basic cooking or baking techniques. ALL recipes are gluten-free (which is great if you eat gluten-free, we do not). But mostly disappointed because every recipe reads like it was translated from a different language with a novice interpreter. Some of the ingredients listed in the book are "preparing pop, dissolved margarine, sharp cream, heating powder, destroyed cheddar, squashed tomatoes, overwhelming cream, mellowed margarine, heating pop, granulated sugar of decision, enormous egg, weiner patties, preparing powder, finishing powder, and (my personal favorite) lemon get-up-and-go". What are these ingredients?!?! This is a great gag gift for a baker, but if you want your teen to learn to bake, don't waste your time with this one.
Fun Easy Recipes
This was a great book for teens. The recipes are easy to follow. Your kids will enjoy cooking these fun recipes. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So Many Errors!
Oh, wow, is this book bad! My guess is that the author is a non-native English speaker, which is fine so long as the author has the book professionally edited by a native speaker. This one has so many errors all over the place, starting in the introduction... where words run together and even wrong ones are used (e.g., backed instead of baked). In the intro, the author assumes much, like that all baked goods are pastry and even that no one can resist a fresh-baked treat... I know some low-carbers who certainly can! The sentences are often torturous as well. Here's an example: “Apparently, for every time you had a pastry, you must have wondered how someone could have mixed different ingredients into a box of yummy, delicious, mouth-watering pastry that leaves your taste bud asking for more.” The recipes don't get any better. I've read thousands of cookbooks over my lifetime, and I've never seen one that asked you to “merge” ingredients! Other directions are even worse! Each recipe has a photo, but unfortunately, the photo is not always for the recipe below it. For instance, a recipe for sugared scones clearly showed a picture of a cut-out heart-shaped cookie. The ingredients weren't written correctly either. Some had the prep of it before the ingredient name when it should have followed it; I don't buy diced butter... do you? The ingredient measurements are an odd mix of imperial (e.g., teaspoons and cups) and metric. I'm a firm believer that teens should learn how to cook and bake, but if you have a teen (or are one) who wants to learn to bake, I suggest finding a better book than this one. I received a free copy of this cookbook, but that did not affect my review.
Nonsense cookbook produced by a bot
It looks like they stole a bunch of recipes and cookbooks and fed it into a bot to produce this useless bunch of nonsense. Take this with more than a “squeeze of salt” it was hilarious to read through once. Can’t imagine wasting $ on trying any of these recipes.
What a bad joke!!!
I ordered this book for my granddaughter who has recently started baking. What a disappointment!! It is not at all how it was described . The ingredients were for gluten free items and written with unfamiliar terms. Probably poorly translated from another language. It was black and white with no basic instructions . Very poor quality . Don’t waste your money.
Great cookbook for teens!
My teenager has reached an age where he likes to find new recipes and try new things in the kitchen. He loved this cookbook! The recipes were simple enough that he could do most of it on his own with minimal questions. The recipes were also interesting enough for a teenager to want to make them. This book was a win at our house. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
