From Mark Greaney, the #1 New York Times bestselling coauthor of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan novels, comes the fifth explosive thriller featuring the lethal assassin known as the Gray Man…

Five years ago, Court Gentry was the CIA’s best covert asset. Then, without warning, his masters at the Agency put him at the top of their kill list. Court fled his country and became an enigmatic killer for hire known as the Gray Man.

Determined to find out what made the Agency turn against him, he plans to get his hands on the men who sent him on his last mission, Operation BACK BLAST. What he doesn’t realize is that the questions that arose from his time as an American assassin are still reverberating in the U.S. intelligence community, and he’s stumbled onto a secret that powerful people want kept under wraps.

The result: everyone has Court in their crosshairs...

Absolutely fantastic

This author can write! He is one of the top thriller writer out there and I love his books and The Gray Man. I've fallen in love with Court Gentry. These books have so much action my head spins. I end up staying up way too late at night reading that I can barely focus on the words but can barely make myself put the book down and go to sleep. I also like the way Greany writes. He is a master. One caveat thought that most thriller writers do that spoils alot of the fun for me is the totally excessive use of profanity, especially the awful F word. Come on, it's sickening how many times it's used per page. It's nonsense that the author has to do this. It's like nude scenes in a movie that have nothing to do with the story , they're just there for for the fools who get off on that. Neither Lee Child nor Clive Cussler use profanity and they are hugely popular so no one can tell me it can't be done. I spend a lot of time going through each page and inking out all the F and the really bad M F words. I wish publishers would put out two versions of the books, one without the profanity and I guess one for those who use filthy language in their daily lives. Aside from that I love the action and the stories. I also love how the stories in each book continue from the last book. You get to know more and more about the Gray Man with each new book.

Greaney is in top form!

In the 5th installment of the Gray Man Greaney is at his best. Over the first four books Greaney creates the narrative of a high profile assassin on the run from a CIA shoot on site directive. Well in book 5 you get the back story, and it delivers! It even has a great twist at the end!

Outstanding series!

If you haven't read the Gray Man series, you are definitely missing out on great reads. This one is no different and I've liked it the best of all; Court is amazing. I've bought every one of these books and finish one, pick up the next. Outstanding reads, well-plotted with good characterizations and non-stop (well, almost) action. You won't be disappointed.

Court Gentry is resilient and heroic in this fast-paced thriller by author Mark Greaney!

Gritty, compelling read! Mark Greaney is a master of writing this genre, and handles the suspense and danger equally well. Court Gentry, as The Gray Man, is truly remarkable - and unforgettable! Each book in this series is a stand-alone story, although the common thread compels the reader to reach for every story in the series. Back Blast is filled with Intricate plot twists and government issues, including counter-espionage and life-threatening situations. Highly recommended!

Back Blast (5th in the Gray Man series) is a terrific action thriller,

Terrific action thriller series. "Back Blast" is the fifth of this series by Mark Greany (the first is "The Gray Man"). Enjoyed this volume very much and easily recommend it. I only recently discovered this series. For my taste in such things, it compares well with the Pike Logan series by Brad Taylor, the Joe Ledger series by Jonathan Maberry (though these have a scifi/horror flavor to them), and the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child (with greater variation in the quality of individual Reacher volumes).

The Gray Man

Another great book about "The Gray Man"........highly recommend reading the series....

Great

Love it

Good story with a tough good guy

Long book that takes time, great value. I can’t wait until I start the next book.

Great "Grey Man" adventure!

This is a great thriller / spy action novel. For me the writing style is very easy to read with enough detail that I can picture everything clearly. It's obvious to me that Mark researches and puts a lot of effort into the accuracy of his novels -- from locations to weapons. I can't wait to read the next Court Gentry story!

Five Stars

From start to finish, this book is "action packed"!

Crosshairs On Who, And You Think He Cares?

With "Back Blast," Mark Greaney dares to raise the stakes on Court Gentry! But wait a minute. This is "The Gray Man" series, and the stakes are supposed to be raised. The crazier it gets, the better the story, it seems! Okay, this is just good storytelling, and that’s the way a good reader wants it. This is a series that has been up my alley from day one! There is a shadow of something back in the states. That shadow happens to be one Court Gentry, and one who wants answers. The Agency isn’t so fond of Court, and he wants to know why. He’s going to find out why, and if people don’t start answering questions, people will be made to answer questions! Meet Court Gentry, if you already haven’t, and being in book #5, chances are you know him quite well. When an operation named “Back Blast” enters his ears, more questions enter Court’s brain, and people had better be prepared to answer! Court’s come back home, and this is his homecoming, whether people like it or not. Denny Carmichael is a slick one, or at least he thinks he is. He’s Director of the National Clandestine Service of the CIA, and he thinks he can take down Court. There’s also Murquin Al-Kazaz, a Saudi in America, working with Carmichael, and he thinks he can help take Court out. Don’t they know who they’re dealing with? This is “The Gray Man,” for crying out loud! You don’t put Court in the crosshairs unless he wants to be put there. Just ask the dead bodies. Mark Greaney has his readers begging for more, and chomping at the bit! He’s no slouch, and he always writes to keep the reader reading. “Gunmetal Gray” just has the title that promises readers everything. I imagine that Greaney is eager to deliver on that one as well.

Outstanding - Highly recommended!!

Denny Carmichael, Director of National Clandestine Service with the CIA, is hosting a garden party completely bored stiff while his wife was in her element socializing with her wealthy friends. But his boredom soon vanished when three black SUV’s approached at break neck speed stopping close to the patio where he was standing. Rushing over to the dozen men who spilled out of the vehicles Denny demanded an explanation. When he was told the Gray Man was back in the USA and no doubt he already had a sniper trained on him at this very moment, the blood drained from his face. Court Gentry, aka the Gray Man was the CIA’s best covert asset, but some five years ago he had been put on a kill list by his employer, and he was now tired of running and hiding. He wanted answers and the one person who could give him that was Denny Carmichael. Mark Greaney has done an outstanding job with a thrilling tale of secrets, lies, and cover-ups, along with convincing strong characters for that extra adrenaline rush. Back Blast is a fairly large book at 738 pages but every chapter was a ‘blast” and should not be missed by spy thriller enthusiasts! Highly recommended!

Great Story

Greary writes an excellent story with lots of twists and action.

Terrible Proofing

didn't anyone proof this book? There is a constant conflation of "General Counsel" and General Council(sic). Makes no sens eat all that this made it to press uncorrected.

Totally undeserved hype, don't waste your time.

I got almost 600 pages through this BORING book before I decided I couldn't waste any more time with it. The characters just run around from location to location around DC without anything interesting happening. Greaney doesn't hold a candle to Tom Clancy. If you want an exciting spy/action/terrorist novel to read pick up I Pilgrim. Even though Daniel Silva's books have gotten very formulistic, at least they have some pace, exciting storyline and colorful locales going for them. Don't waste your time with this one.

Racist garbage.

Grotesquely racist drivel. No thanks.

Jack Reacher fans you're gonna love Gray Man

I just started going backwards in the series. A page turner. Jack Reacher fans you're gonna love Gray Man

Up to his usual very high standards
