Mantak Chia rocks!!
After practicing other forms of esoteric energy from other teachers, I began to have serious headaches from massive pressure in my head and my chest/heart were giving me some very worrisome trouble. Mantak Chia explains that you cannot leave the energy in the upper body when you finish an exercise but must move it back to the tan tian. Interesting. No other teacher had told me that. Some teachers even say that the goal is to get the energy up and then leave it up. Thankfully, Mr Chia also explained how to correct the problem. I followed his instructions and within a few days my head pressure was gone and within a week my chest and heart were returning to normal. Mantak Chia is the best teacher of moving energy around in your body. His methods work. His safety tips work. His healing tips work. This is the beginning book for his system. You'll need this one before moving on to Iron Shirt and any of the others. Even if you are currently ready for the higher forms, I'd recommend a quick run through this book because his warnings are real and his solutions work. Moving the energy is possible and you might as well learn to do it correctly. Mantak Chia will tell you how. So, move that energy and heal yourself! Follow the directions of Mantak Chia and you'll get better and better. Just remember to heed his warnings because he's right, leaving the energy in the up position is not a good thing! The two exercises in this book are foundational and fundamental. You're going to need them if you want to move on to other levels. They also stand alone and work wonderfully if these are the only two exercises that you ever learn. Great book! I shudder to think were I'd be if I hadn't found it.
I love this book
I love this book. You must practice tho. The changes are incredible. At first your body will react weird pains, vibrations, stings, just like the book explains. But the rewards are amazing, more focus, I used to get back pains now I dont, my posture has gotten better without my conscious awareness, my mind and emotions are calmer. It's an amazing practice and only the beginning. I have been practicing for about 3 weeks. I do it 2 times minimum a day I genuinely enjoy it.
Great introduction
This is a great introduction to Mantak Chia's books. The next books to read are Inner Smile, Six Healing Sounds, and Chi Self Massage for learning more.
I love how the author(s) explain the primary difference between Taoist ...
I love how the author(s) explain the primary difference between Taoist meditation (as the circulation of energy) and the Buddhist version (directing energy upward in an effort to transcend the limitations of humanity and merge with divinity. Taoism doesn't seek to meld (read "lose") one's individuality in divinity, but seeks to preserve the individual and the individual's energy. The lessons on how to circulate chi are very well explained. There is a final chapter giving a sneak preview of what's to come once one has completed the microcosmic orbit--the central focus of the book. Very exciting stuff.
Key book for spiritual seekers
I think this is a must-have for any spiritual seeker or energy practitioner. I do love Mantak Chia and his work (have several of his books for 20 years now). This is one of his first...you can tell he was still honing his English writing skills, as a few things could have been explained better (I was able to figure out what he means by cross-referencing to other books of his). Would love to see an updated version! Still, I think it's a key book to have! Also, in re-acquainting myself with a few of the exercises, they are great for relaxation and sleeping well.
Worthless mumble jumble
This is my second Mantak Chia book...and it now resides in the trash can. I have practiced Tai Chi for a number of years and recently have focused on Qi Gong practices. After reading all the five-star reviews I thought this author would be worth the reading. Save yourself time and money...just skip this author and this book.
Not good, too complex
Why these practices are weak? To complicated His understanding seems a bit shallow lol He puts way too much emphasis on sex as if it ACTUALLY matters Too long for our generation to be honest we are fast learners there are better techniques find them this probably is not that I will be looking to sell the book
Chia Power At Its Best!
My master. This book along with a workshop of his I attended in 1983 in NYC elevated him to that level. And still his best book.
Dangerous, powerful directions
This book is Frank and to the point. The author pulls no punches. If you follow the directions and donโt overthink it, you will get to where he guides you. The only reason this is not a five star review is that once you get there, you may not like what you have opened yourself up to.
An Important Book
I have attended Master Mantak Chia's courses like "Iron shirt ,Dien Tian Qi gong, and others",but have skipped the very first part of the course, which was "Opening the small circulation and the macro cosmic orbit..". When i could not succeed to feel ,at the class ,the energy, which the others where feeling,i finally understood that ,because i have skipped the first part of the course, and jumped to all the others, the reason why i could not feel some of the energy. This book is a must ,and it is the base for all the teachings of Master Mantak. It will save time, and will make one achieve to reach ,in a short time ,to open the small circulation..and it is easily explained.

book about Healing through the Tao.
I have studied this book before, with a teacher, about 37 years ago. This book is very useful for anyone who wishes to know more about the Tao. Master Chia is a very good teacher.
I was glad to receive it in prompt fashion, and grateful to find such a good price!
This book has been more than helpful to my personal wellness and physical health. I was glad to receive it in proper fashion, and grateful to find such a good price! I totally recommend this seller and this was a great purchase experience
Amazing book
Amazing info. Reading this will set you on a different path your question and begin to try to consciously monitor everything that you do in your head and out in the world everybody needs to read this book
Youโre opening yourself up to demonic forces.
Do not buy this book, youโre messing with demonic forces. And if you donโt know why? Ask God. Nothing good is going to come from the teaching of a man who is not of God. And Tao is not a practice from God. Godโs Words are free, and easy to understand.

Helped me to make a lot of progress
I started practicing internal arts about 5-6 years ago. I have had spurts of progress here and there with various teachers, books, ideas, and exercises. This book has led to the most breakthroughs in the shortest amount of time. I have a lot of respect for Master Chia, but I do not agree with all of his ideas about the Universe. So, you do not have to accept all of his ideas to benefit from from his books.
This Actually Works
Maybe it's because I've practiced tai chi for the past 14 years and am very familiar with the feeling of chi flowing through my body, but I had no trouble at all performing the two exercises described in this book, the Inner Smile and the Microcosmic Orbit. According to the author, it can sometimes take a year to actually get your chi (living energy) to circulate throughout the chakras of the body, but I could do it the very first time I tried. Also, I experienced a very noticeable increase in energy and physical strength - all the more remarkable because I live with a chronic autoimmune disease that causes intense fatigue. The exercises in this book also helped to reduce my chronic pain. Very glad I bought this.
Informative and Detailed
I really like the authors descriptions and thorough explanations for those of us trying to incorporate these teachings into our lives. Very step-by-step instruction that allows one to really feel it and practice it. This book has been beneficial to me in my new studies of this subject.
perfect..perfect..perfect
One of the best beginner's guides, but since i had a copy years ago,it makes an excellent reference.I highly recommend it.
Dissapointing
I have been hesitant to review this book for a long time. This is a very rudimentary book that deals almost exclusively with the small circulation or sometimes called the Small Uiverse. The author used incorrect termininology for the Conception Qi vessel, and is unaware of the difference between Qi vessels and meridians.
Must Read!
My daughter had been looking for this book for several years. (It had been recommended by a friend.) I decided to give it to her for Christmas. While we opened presents, she was completely engrossed in this book. She insists I must read it!

An Interesting System
2/20/16 update On pages 89 and 145 in Awaken Healing Energy Through the Tao, Mantak addresses ringing in the ears. His explanation is not 100% accurate. If you are doing spiritual work and you experience ringing in the ears, you might have a negative entity or spirit (succubus) attached to your body. You may have etheric mind-control implants in your head and body, or you might be under psychic attack from the New World Order secret government. The secret government/MKUltra mind-control program uses a frequency modulator with embedded hypnosis suggestions to attack its victims. The victim will experience a steady tone in the ear, especially the left ear. This was doable in 1974. The dark aliens also attack the left brain because it is associated with logic and thought processes. Mantakโs remedies, which are swallowing saliva, relaxing the head, focusing on the navel, or massaging the naval area, wonโt fix attacks from aliens and the MKUltra mind-control program. Original Review: This review is for two of Mantak Chiaโs books. Iโve read Awaken Healing Energy Through the Tao and Fusion of the Eight Psychic Channels. I enjoyed these books. They are very informative; and they give the reader a glimpse into the Taoist belief system. My gut tells me that Mantak has a sincere interest in helping others heal themselves with his Taoist energy system. I donโt believe there is any attempt to deceive people with dark practices, manipulations, or false information. Iโve seen videos of him teaching. He is warm, friendly, not egotistical in the least, and he shows a genuine interest in helping his audience to understand his teachings and practices. I give his sincerity 5 stars. Both books are very detailed and have numerous illustrations to help the reader understand the specific acupuncture points of the body, specific energy points of the body, the direction of energy flow in the body, special meridians, the overall practices and meditations, and expected sensations from doing each exercise. I find his books to be descriptive, detailed, and organized. I give the instructional aspect of his books 5 stars. Some of his justifications he uses to back up his system are questionable and should be considered as Mantakโs personal opinions. I do not agree with all of his justifications that he uses as proof to back up his system. I give this part of his books 3.5 stars. The system itself wonโt keep you from aging or dying. These are not judgment statements, these are practical observations. Mantak is still aging, even though he practices his system. As Mantak has aged, his body seems to have stopped metabolizing like a young maleโs body would and has gotten larger. Again, these are just simple observations and are not statements to put down Mantak in any way. I do like his explanation and practice of the inner smile. This could easily be a part of his cheery demeanor. I have noticed a positive difference in my body and attitude when I use the inner smile on my body parts. There are numerous things that Mantak does not discuss in his books that are causes for blockages in a personโs energy flow. It might be because he has not experienced this in his lifetime, yet. I didnโt experience these dark oriented energy blocks until a few years back, eitherโand itโs not in my first bookโso I donโt fault him at all for not having this in his books. Let me explainโฆ I have been doing spiritual meditation for over 12 years. When you meditate long periods of time with the intent of being more loving, caring, and helpful, you raise your vibration. When you raise your vibration, you can also start feeling other densities. You can also start feeling the influences and actions from the dark sideโeven with protection. The dark side uses etheric mind-control implants and 4th dimensional machinery to block the meridians, block the chakras, and stop your energy flow. It also seems that some of the reptilians and other dark entities know how to collapse a personโs auric field, too. I have experienced this first hand, and on a daily basis. Mantakโs teachings do not cover this as a potential problem. In his books, all energy blocks are explained as problems with normal human existence, however, the New World/Old World agenda is part of everyday normal life. People can experience blocks and not know that they originated with a dark agenda to stop people from raising their consciousness. (If you want more information on this, start researching the New World Order, MKUltra mind-control programs, reptilians, grey aliens, and etheric implants. This will open your mind to things that arenโt covered in these books in regard to energy blockages.) What else does this system do? In Fusion of the Eight Psychic Channels, he does a great job of explaining how these eight meridian channels create the body. By focusing on these eight channels and doing meditations on the meridian paths, I have experienced a greater energy flow. I have combined this with his version of the Microcosmic and Macrocosmic Orbitโwhich he explains in great detail in Awaken Healing Energy Through the Tao. His system does bring a tiny bit of doubt to the table. Mantakโs description, energy points, and meditations to move energy through the eight psychic channels does differ slightly from other teachers. The hard part is knowing which system is the right one and which system should be believed as correct. I donโt do everything Mantakโs way, but I wonโt discourage anyone from doing things as he describes, either. The best piece of advice I can give is to try a number of systems and continue with the one that gives you the best positive results. I recommend these books for further exploration into Qi Gong, Nei Gong, and positive living.
Great Book... reveals secrets of qigong and Taoist practice seldom taught in the West before...
The short review: Great Book! This book reveals secrets of qigong/chi kung and Taoist practice that are seldom taught in the West even today... and were virtually unheard of before the publication of this book... Had I reviewed this book when I originally read it, I'm sure I would have given it 5 stars. I only gave it 4 stars because Healing Light of the Tao is more modern, covers these same exercises and expands upon them (and shows the increased wisdom of 25 more years of practice and teaching by Mantak Chia). If you only read one, I would encourage you toward Healing Light of the Tao over Awaken Healing Energy Through the Tao. After working with the exercises for a while, it seems to have lifted my energy and... 'softened' my personality. Any time I am settled (relaxed and centered) I can usually feel expansion in my head right away when I breathe energy up my spine. If there is one Taoist energy exercise that everyone should know... it is the Inner Smile. This exercise will bring more joy into your life right away... I can't keep from smiling even when I'm only thinking about it. I don't know if I'm any smarter as a result of these exercises... ;-) but I do appreciate myself for reasons other than intelligence, now. Mantak Chia has made major contributions to the understanding/practice of Qigong/Chi Kung/Taoist Yoga for the western practitioner... and this book is one of the first. It is well worth reading for any student of Taoism, meditation, or energy work. keep smiling, Benjamin
An understandable guide to a complex subject.
This book clearly describes two meditation exercises to improve the flow of chi through the energy circuits in the body. The first involves sending positive energy to your internal organs and other structures so that they can function better. The second is the "microcosmic orbit," a very ancient practice which moves energy in a circular motion up the spine, over the head, down the front of the body, and back up the spine. At the end of this exercise the chi is then focused in the Tan Tien center, right below the navel. The microcosmic orbit differs from the Hatha Yoga practice of raising the kundalini energy up the spine in that in the Taoist practice you always bring the energy back down, thus grounding it. Much of the purported danger in these sorts of energy exercises comes from leaving the energy "raised," which sometimes happens in Hatha Yoga, or so I am told. Thus I don't agree with the warnings that these exercises are dangerous when not practiced with a master. Although I do have a Tai chi/Chi Kung teacher, I started these exercises years ago when I was working alone. The most notable change that I have experienced doing the microcosmic orbit is that I have many more lucid dreams than ever before, plus a sense of having a clearer energy field. It is important to note that Chia does not make any reference to Taoist yoga as a religious practice. You may do these exercises as a Taoist, a Christian, a Buddhist, a Wiccan, whatever. They are simply exercises to learn about and work with your own life-force energy. If you are working with a teacher, this book is a good adjunct as it has diagrams of the energy pathways and certain internal organs which you should know about. If you don't yet have a teacher, the book will introduce the subject in a straightforward, simple way that you can easily work with.
Works Wonders
I have been working with Mantak Chia's materials for the past 17 years. Originally I found few of his books ine one small Chinese store, and decided to give them a shot. I was thrilled when even my very first attempt resulted in noticing the difference. While the books were wonderful I did wish to have personal instruction, too. Lucky for me, about few weeks after I purchased the books, Mantak Chia was teaching a workshop in Toronto. Even though thsee initial practices are rather simple, it helped attending a workshop, too. I have attended all the workshops he came to teach in Toronto at the time. In the meantime, videos came out, so in time I got those too. You may or may not want to attend a workshop, but if for any reason you don't feel comfortable proceeding on your own, you may consider getting Mantak Chias videos. I like them very much (I have just about all of them) Another excellent resource is the book Qigong Empowerment. The focus of this book, Awaken Healing Energy Through Tao, is learing to circulate the energy through Microcosic Orbit. It is the essential practice for all future practices in Taoist Alchemy. The book also gives an overview of practices you can do if you wish to continue with your studies and practice. It is not hard to do. It is really simple. If you are new to this, the more complex part than the practice may be the use of different names in chinese for different points and a lot of theoretical information behind the practice. The practice essentially involves guiding the energy with your imagination - generating it, circulating it and storing it in your body. You can experience many benefits of this practice from the very beginning. What I experienced from the very beginning is a sense of calm. If I were ever upset and then begin doing microcosmic orbit, the upset would immediately disperse and dissolve. Doing microcosmic orbit practice had a centering effect. The practice is very, very simple but the benefits are far greater than may be initially apparent. As you keep on storing the energy, whenever any part of your body (organs) need more energy, they can use the energy you have stored instead of depleting the energy from other parts of your body. This in itself contributes to health. However, if you choose to continue your learning, there are many more advanced practices designed specifically for healing.
Not bad
The author gives pretty good instructions for performing the meditation he describes. But he isn't quite as organized as I'd have liked him to be. I found myself constantly going back to the text to find out what I was supposed to do next. He have some cautions which were highly specific and didn't apply to me, then left it vague as to details on about knowing when you were supposed to move on to the next chi point. I kept feeling like I should buy more of his books to get more data, but resisted the temptation, thought I'd try his method first. Had to take a break from meditation because of increasing migraines. He warned about that, but pushing through when you're in that much pain isn't an option if you want to show up for work. Coincidence? I'll try the method again to find out. The good news is he does give a lot of how to advice, and you really can work his method on your own with just this book. It is consistent with other Taoist meditation books I have read, so further study and a good acupuncturist might be a good idea if you are serious about this.
Simple & Clear
This book was my first introduction to qigong, and as such I found it a revelation. I had been doing Tai Chi for some time, but due to unique difficulties, I often had to go in for surgery, and by the time I was able to work again, I had lost both form & teacher. There is no such problem here. The technique can be practiced anywhere, any time and can be incorporated easily into one's breathing. This small, simple book contains one exercise. which can be learned very easily. Half the book, at least, is nothing but testimonials, which I thought were just to fill out the pages. Each of his small books can be read quickly, and takes about three months' practice to learn well enough to go on to another one. I appreciated the fact that he left out the philosophy, and got right to the technique. It makes it easily available to anyone. When these books first came out, I bought each one as soon as it was published, and bought multiple copies of this one as gifts. I admit that at one time, I tried Yoga without a teacher other than books, and got in immediate trouble. There were no available teachers at the time, and I found the books left too much out. This book solved, and made me understand my previous difficulties.
The Microcosmic Orbit and More...
I found this to be a good book and one which I have referred back to many times during my energy training. The microcosmic orbit meditation alone is worth the price of the book. Awaken Healing Energy Through the Tao contains a lot of easy to understand information that anyone who is interested in working with chi or energy will find useful. While reading this book, I found many techniques which I had been taught by other martial artists over the years. Though many people teach some of the techniques which this book contains, not many understand why they are doing these techniques. This book explains in detail the reasons as well as the techniques. It is worth your time. Bohdi Sanders, author of
Great book on energy practice
I am working through this book. The main practice is the microcosmic orbit which uses the prenatal energy system. When you were in the womb you received all your nourishment and energy through the navel and this followed an energy pathway to the base of the spine and all the way up to your head, and back down the front to the navel to the dan tien where it is stored. This exercise trains you get the pre natal energy flowing again. Normally, as you go through life your energy does not flow upwards properly and becomes blocked contributing to the ageing process etc. If you have any interest in energy practice, you should work with the microcosmic orbit. The only trouble is it may take a while before a conscious flow can be felt. I recommend the five tibetans, which is a simple exercise routine you can do in five minutes. These are also referred to as the fountain of youth exercises. This also brings the energy up to your higher centers or psychic vortexes, and restores their function to youthful levels, thereby retarding the aging process. You can feel the kundalini (base of spine) energy being activated. If you are new to energy, I recommend you also get Quantum Touch, which has some great exercises and visualizations which can literally have you moving energy within minutes. Combining a few different methods has worked well for me. As with anything, the more you practice, the more you improve.
Microcosmic Orbit
I opened up the Microcosmic Orbit in 1983. After reading Mantak Chia's book, Awaken the Healing Energy Through the Tao, I was inspired and determined to find a teacher. I kept the book in close proximity during the day, and I read it dutifully at night. Already into an over 10 year mantra practice (TM), I intuitively felt that there might be more to a meditation practice. It has been said, "When the student is ready the teacher comes." And so it was for me. Peter Moy, a direct student of Mantak Chia, came to Madison WI. Peter spent a weekend teaching the orbit meditation to a group of us at our farm house in Spring Green WI. The Micro Cosmic Orbit is an energy loop. When the Orbit is 'open' the energy flows in a circle, and the Yin and Yang Vessels of the body are united. Chinese Medicine calls these, the Governing Vessel or Du Channel(Back)and the Conception Vessel or Ren Channel (Front). It is through practice of techniques clearly presented in Mantak Chia's book, that the Orbit is able to open. The practitioner has access to a wellspring of energy that was previously locked up. For me the Orbit was a jumping off point. The Orbit was the foundation for continued learning and practicing other valuable techniques like Kriya Yoga, Bandhas and Energy Healing over the last twenty plus years. Buy the Book. Find a teacher if you need one. Do the practice and for sure the Orbit will 'open'
The Most Powerful Force in the World: Chi
Chi is the generative life force that gives us health. Mantak shows people how to develop this powerful energy flow to achieve physical, psychological, and spiritual health and balance. Chi is the most powerful healing method in the world. The Tao connects to us through Chi. Chi is an experience that must be learned from a true master in life. However, this book is the best guide for those without access to mentors. I recommend Master Zhao in the Bay Area (Fremont).
Where to start?
I have not purchased a Mantak Chia book yet. I was hoping someone could give me help in choosing one of his books, for someone recovering from two bypass surgeries, and two aortic surgeries. This information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
This book is small
This is the first and only Mankak Chia book that I have as yet. It's good for the little details that other people and books might confuse - like which hand to use to closing the orbit. I really wish that this book had more information, especially about the orbit as it goes through the legs and arms. I have come back and added a star to my review as I realised that Mantak is such a reliable source that it makes reading other sources on the microcosmic orbit much more lucid. My tan tien is not at my navel though.
Some of the best material on using energy to heal ourselves out there
Mantak Chia books are kind of tough to read, but every single one is worth having. Some of the best material on using energy to heal ourselves out there!
Good as a reference book, but be Warned!
This book was one of the first books on a segment of the Taoist arts to reach the west and to that I give Mantak Chia high praise. The book deals with the energy circulation within the body. It is written in a easy to follow style (for such a subject). After studing the internal arts for years I find this book a good reference book. Unfortunately I believe this book is actually bad for anyone who is new to the subject. DOING ANY OF THE EXERCISES WRONG CAN HAVE TERRIBLE EFFECTS ON YOU. To any person who is new to qi gong/internal arts I say this book is not for you and you should first find a GOOD teacher to study under. For people who are already familiar with the study, this is a good reference book to have in your collection.
Outstanding book for martial artists.
Mantak Chia has written a book that is easy to understand and practice. I am a student and instructor of internal kung-fu, and I use this book as a textbook for students as they study Chi Kung, especially solo postures. I practice the techniques in this book and find them extremely beneficial in stress management, health, and martial arts.
ANYTHING WORTHWHILE TAKES ENDURANCE TO MASTER
I HAVE READ THE REVIEW OF OTHERS CONCERNING THIS BOOK AND I FIND THAT THE ONLY THING THAT THEY SHOWED WAS THEIR LACK OF OPEN-MINDEDNESS. THIS BOOK IS A JEWEL! AS ARE ALL HIS BOOKS. BUT LIKE ALL JEWELS ONE MUST LABOR HARD IN THE EARTH TO REFINE HIS\HER PRECIOUS STONE.TAOISM IS NOT RELIGION, NOR IS IT YOGA, IT IS THE REALITY OF THE UNIVERSE. MAYBE THE COMPLICATION IS DUE TO THE WAY THE AUTHOR THINKS,AS OPPOSED TO THE READER. IN ADDITION ENGLISH PROVIDES POOR TRANSLITERATION. IF YOU SEARCH FOR THE WAY YOU WILL NEVER FIND IT FOR IT IS NO THING TO BE SEARCHED.
Pump sexual energy up your spine today!
There's a lot of confusion and misinformation in this country about what exactly Daoism is. This book has a lot to do with the situation. Mantak Chia purports to strip unnecessary religiosity from Daoist practices to present readers with a bare bones version of basic qigong. But without an understanding of Daoist religious thought and an appreciation of the complex Chinese cosmology which underlies it, these exercises are about as meaningful as the Lord's Prayer might be to a Martian. If you want to learn the microcosmic orbit, go ahead and read this book. But to better understand where this is all coming from, read Isabelle Robinet, Kristofer Schipper, or Livia Kohn.
The Taoist Cornerstone - Solid as a Rock
Anyone wanting to start practising Taoism should begin with this book. It is the only one of Mantaks books I have read which sufficiently describes the microcosmic orbit. In Taoist Ways to Transform Stress into Vitality as well as in Taoist Secrets of Love, Mantak is dangerously sloppy in summarizing the microcosmic orbit, forgetting the extremely important collection of energy at the navel. Read this book.
Mind Training - Energy Circulation
This book describes the circulation of chi through the body. It is extremely helpful in pinpointing areas where the chi naturally builds. I have been using the techniques described in the book for several weeks now and feel more relaxed, food digests more readily as well as feeling more energetic.
Amazing
The amount of information in this book offers a solid foundation, in these theories, and in energy work. Remember all of the precautions, and take it slow, and enjoy.
Microcosmic orbit
No other book offers you a complete and clearer instruction about circulating your energy through the microcosmic orbit, which is the basis of the whole chi kung sistem.
Great Book!
I can't recomend this book enough! As I was dealing with the after effects of a kundalini awakening I found the exercises in this book to be amazingly helpful.
Read "Taoist Yoga:: Alchemy and Immortality" instead, or also!
If you want to understand what Taoist meditation is all about, and help yourself avoid the many dangerous obstacles of this very unique and wonderful - yet very serious - practice, you should at least read the book i suggested, as well. I can see people are deriving some benefit from Chia's book, but just from reading the table of contents and the first few pages, I can honestly recommend that you should study the methods of cultivating essential nature and eternal life from an immortal master of the advanced training methods, which Chia speaks of in the sample. The benefits you will derive from Charles Luk's translation of "The methods of cultivating essential nature and eternal life," called "Taoist Yoga..." will far surpass anything you will attain from Chia's, and incidentally help you avoid the many potential problems that can develop in this type of spiritual training. There are also some misconceptions about Taoist meditation in Chia's book that I can see right off the bat, and if you take my word, and check out Luk's book, you will at least be able to practice Chia's more effectively, and less dangerous! Take this sincere advice from someone who hasn't read but the first few pages of Chia's book, but who has actual first hand experience with the TRUE (complete, as opposed to Chia's incomplete) mechanisms of the generative force, vitality, spirit, the microcosmic orbit, and the original cavity of spirit, etc., etc., etc.. One thing I can't tell from the book is whether the whole method is based on turning back the flow of generative fluid, which is what real Taoist meditation is based on. One definite gross misconception that is readily available to view in the sample of Chia's is that Taoist meditation is not dependent on stopping the flux of thoughts in your mind while practicing. If you are TRULY SERIOUS about spiritual growth, progress, and prolonging and enjoying your life, then you must obtain and study Luk's book (AT LEAST as a companion to this one), which also warns against taking advice from the wrong guide, on numerous occasions. If you are NOT serious about attaining the many wonderful benefits that this advanced training method can give, I suggest you not practice Tao Yoga at all, and focus on something less serious for now. Those are my sincerest words, and I stand by them. I feel a responsibility to at least tell you my perspective, so you can make a more intelligent, wise decision.
Refreshing and helpful
I've enjoyed reading this book and I think that it is a really positive and useful book. Try not to skim and allow it to permeate into your daily routine in order to get the benefit. Also, if you want, take up tai chi exercises; live it!

Everything you need to know about the Microcosmic Orbit
Superb book. Lots of valuable information for Qi Gong beginners. In this book, Mantak Chia talks mainly about the Microcosmic Orbit (Functional Channel & Governor Channel; trunk), the Large Heavenly Cycle (arms and legs) and the Inner Smile. A few pages focus on your preparation: room, clothes, food, and attitude. Chapters 10-16 were not that interesting to me (commonly asked questions, personnal experiences...). He refers a lot to other practices he talks about in other books he wrote... makes you feel like you have to buy the next one! Too bad this book was not availanble in Kindle format.

As per persception ..the book was literally good not beyond that. ..after going through this book you will have different mind set on the love making (dnt think baba it more of spuritual n physical energy rather than cenimatic love)...โคโคโค๐๐๐โโ
Interesante
