I wanted ART

A photo of a high-heeled shoe with feathers on it is not a masterwork. A photo of a fairly drab looking outfit on a mannequin is NOT a masterwork A solid yellow square with rounded corners is NOT a masterwork. I could go on. I wanted some great art to enrich and lift my spirits in my technological nightmare of a cubicle farm. If every 5th day is going to be the equivalent of some postmodernist haranguing me that this non-art, too, CAN BE ART, then it has failed at that purpose. I don't mind the format too much... it IS a little silly to have a margin, leaving less room for the actual art, a margin which contains a tiny picture OF the picture. That would be like if you had a bed & breakfast, and you put a sign with a picture OF your bed & breakfast advertising it like 10 feet in front of the actual building. The loose-leaf format makes it easy to pin ones I like (when they show up...) to my cubicle wall. Don't spill the thing though, or you'll be spending the next 365 days re-ordering the pages! The days are on unattached sheets sitting loosely in a tray. Again, I was hoping to see a bunch of masterworks. The actual selections are often depressing. There seems to be a recurring theme with the photos of modern sculptures - half a head here, half a head there, bodies with parts missing. The reason ANCIENT masterpieces have missing things is they had to make it through hundreds of years of economic upswings/downswings, wars, accidents, disasters, weather, etc. Not sure why truncation of the human form rated so high for modern sculpture with the calendar's curators. Almost half the "artwork" is kind of depressing in various ways. I may just pick out the good ones (there are 365 to choose from, there will be some) and hang them up immediately, then replace the calendar so I have something uplifting to look forward to daily.

Excellent improvements in the last two years.

I wrote my original review (below) in Jan of 2015. I need to update because the calendar has been improved since that time. Happily, the silver grey "frame" is gone, replaced by a simple brassy colored cardboard frame. It is a huge improvement. An much appreciated addition in the last couple of years is the inclusion of the original size of the art work. I would still like to see the calendar go back to the old system of turning the calendar just once during the year, rather than having to turn each page every other day. I still would like that "surprise" feature, but I can live with this with the improved frame. As others have pointed out, the calendar "frame" is no longer the clean, clear "frameless" plastic. It is now a wide silver grey frame which reduces the page size to only 68% of what it used to be. (I did the math twice because that reduction even surprised me). A wide silver grey frame does NOT enhanced the art. It detracts. But if aesthetics had been the only difference I wouldn't be writing this. It is the decreased functionality that is the big disappointment. First, it is not as easy to changes the pages. Second, the size of the date on each page is greatly reduced and the date and day of week are in black but the month is in very light silver grey, all of which makes it harder to read. And the very worst part of the changes made in this calendar is that you now pull the page up and turn it around and reinsert for the following day. And as you are doing this the page for day-after-tomorrow is revealed until you re-insert today's page. I don't want to see that page. A lot of the fun is to NOT look ahead. To be surprised each day as I change the date. So what is good about this calendar? The art, of course. And also the new pages are exactly the same size as the old pages, which is making it possible for me to use last year's plastic frame for this year's calendar. All I had to do was remove the "foot" from the back of the frame and turn the calendar 90 degrees and then attach the foot using double sticky-back tape. I have enjoyed these MET calendars for years but next year I might have to make a change.

My favorite page-a-day calendar

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this calendar! I saw it a few years ago in the gift shop of a local museum, and frankly I bought it to support the gift shop. The wide arrange of art objects is fascinating!!! It sits on my desk, and I stare at it during conference calls while people yammer on. To say it transports me to a different place would be a stretch, however it is a continual reminder of a few things. Many things are art: painting, sculpture, furniture, frescoes, jewelry, clothing, musician instruments, etc, etc, etc. People in every culture, in every corner of the globe, throughout every period of history, have made art. I don't like every object in the calendar, but what a tremendous example of the range of human creativity! These wonderful objects, whether ancient or modern, have survived and can be appreciated by the public either in person at a museum, or even just on a page-a-day calendar while listening to a conference call. It's in a good sturdy display box that you just unfold, and it's self-supporting. I was afraid it would be the same pictures every year, but it's not. There are some repeats from one year to the next, but most are new. Get out of your rut and be surprised to see a new piece of art every day! Update: This is STILL my favorite page-a-day calendar; I still look forward to turning the page each day. Every day something new and different, and sometimes the pleasure of seeing again something you’ve seen before. Some reviewers have a narrow view of what is “art” and therefore don’t like this calendar. Well guess what, no two people will ever like or appreciate exactly the same things! There are things in the calendar, and in every museum on the planet, that I don’t like, and occasionally roll my eyes and say to myself “You’re kidding me that qualifies as art”, but THAT’S OK! Expand your horizons, consider something new, and tomorrow is another day! Enjoy the wonderful diversity of art :)

Beautiful Artwork & Wonderful Design

This is my first year having purchased this one-painting-a-(week)day (N.B. Saturdays and Sundays share a page) desk calendar, and I'm very happy to have done so! It brightens my work day to look at a beautiful work of art each day. There are several complaints about this calendar's design, but I'm a fan of it! To people reading this review (and possibly others) on this product, this is how it works: You open up a rectangular box into an easel-like set-up, and there's a clear, plastic container through which you can view the heavy-paper image that's in front. At the end of the day, either flip the paper to view the next day's work of art, or move the paper to the back of the pile. I like this set-up, as I find it ugly whenever tear-off desk calendars means there are bits of paper left behind--not to mention this encourages you to keep all the papers with the images (which is a boon, I think, because this means you always can revisit something you like)! There have been complaints about the plastic covering getting dirty: I haven't had this problem. To that objection, I will point out that making sure your hands are clean when you handle this calendar will help it last long. Mine still looks as if I've just received it. This product is a blessing to own, and I hope it will be around for future years in this design!

I've bought this calendar for several years now, and have steadily watched the quality degrade. First it was the thickness of the pages getting thinner and more cheap-feeling. Now they're down to plain glossy paper that bends and tears easily, and the display base is now a cheap-looking cardboard box in a dull silver color. It detracts from the artwork, it makes the artwork smaller (in previous years the base was an open acrylic design - far nicer) and the silver goes with almost none of the pieces. It's like looking at artwork matted by a fool. The MET has lovely artwork and this calendar has a great idea - they just need to step it back up again and make it look like something from the MET. Not something from a farmer's market.

Beautiful desk calendar

I like to have a calendar on my desk at work. I've already gone through the 100 Places to See Before You Die and the Atlas Obscura calendars. I thought I'd branch out into an artwork calendar. I am so glad I did! The calendar is a little bigger than traditional desk calendars and the sheets are loose (you don't tear them off day by day). Each sheet is double-sided (yay for saving trees!) and very good quality heavy, glossy paper. The artworks are absolutely stunning! I haven't been able to throw out any of the sheets yet because they're of such good quality (please help, I don't know what I'm going to do with a year's worth of mini artworks). The "stand" of the calendar is a very nice rose gold/copper-ish cardboard frame that folds to support itself. There is a clear protector that was used to hold the sheets in place for shipping but I just left it in to protect the sheet that is currently displayed. Get this calendar - you won't regret it!

2016 is a Disappointment

I have purchased this very calendar for years, I actually recycle it and my brother enjoys it the following year. However, 2016 is such a disappointment. The quality of the paper is poor, the art chosen is excellent but then we are talking the Metropolitan Museum of Art. But to get back to the calendar, the "Day" and "Date" are so small it is questionable how it can function as a calendar. When I got to the first duplicate, on Wednesday, January 27th, I put it away. The holder for the pages is cheap and a bit cumbersome to negotiate. Last notation, flipping the daily calendar over versus just replacing the page in the back of the holder, is a poor decision. I would rather see the entire calendar being flipped over for the second half of the year. If this is the "New and Improved" calendar, I have purchased my last one.

one flaw

I like this calendar mainly for the variety of art included. There is one major flaw. The printing. At least one page every week has printing smudges. It's very distracting and frankly, ugly. Not something you want to see when looking at art. Imagine you're at the gallery and there are fingerprints on part of the wall. Rather disappointing. I thought it might have been only on one or two pages, but they keep coming up. Is it enough to keep me from buying it again? Probably not, but...

I never write reviews but the redesign of this product this year (2016) has consistently bothered me enough to share with others so that they might make a more informed purchase decision. I have gotten the Metropolitan Museum of Art day calendar for years because each new day's art added a little bit of culture and joy to my life. I never thought twice about the plastic holder once I had assembled it each new year's day. As of this year, 2016, the holder has been redesigned and now, two months in, I find it has become a tiny nuisance each day to switch the cards. I also miss the extra space the new holder now takes on my desk. That's it. Read on if you want the details. It is very difficult to switch days for two reasons. First, the holder is now a cardboard box with a tight opening. This makes it difficult to gracefully pull the old day out and either flip it over to the new day or move it to the back (I like to hold onto the old ones to peruse in the future). Second, the cards for each day now are double-sided in order of days instead of in order of stacking (i.e., Monday the 1st is on one side, then Tuesday the second is on the other side, where as in the past Jan 1 - Jul 2 is one one side of each card, then you flip the whole stack and go from July 3- Dec 31st.) That was much easier to do because you didn't have to think about whether to flip the card over each day or move it to the back. You always moved it to the back. Lastly, the container takes up more area on my desk. The design has been changed to "landscape" orientation from "portrait" orientation which causes a larger width footprint compared to before. Also, the box itself still forms an easel for putting the pictures at a reasonable viewing angle, but, now the easel is cardboard and the design takes up more depth on the desk than the previous design. I do appreciate that they moved from plastic to cardboard since it is more recyclable, but, the design has really become a downside and I am not sure I will buy it again even though I do enjoy the art each day.

Nice but the design needs improvement

Love all the art pictures on the calendar. Very classy. But it is hard to remove each date picture and put in the back of the calendar( as I don't like to throw the pictures after the dates). All the pages are tightly packed so to get each page out it is very tricky. Also, we have a cardboard mount. It is meant to be on the desk or a flat base to be beautifully displayed. This is a great piece. Request the people who sell it to make the structure of the calendar to be more ergonomic.

Flimsy, cheap, not all days present!!!

For anyone who has had a page-a-day art calendar from the Met in the past, be aware this is a flimsy imitation. --Prior ones had sturdy lucite frame - this is cardboard and of course, a different size so we can't even use the lucite ones we already have --Prior pages were sturdy, these are too flimsy to stick into the back --The images are small and poorly printed --MOST IMPORTANTLY, we only have Monday, Wednesday and Friday - what the heck happened to the other days? Worst calendar EVER.

Makes me sneeze

The ink on this calendar makes me sneeze. I have to keep it at a distance, so I'm not pleased about that. I also didn't realize that all the pages are loose with a day on each side. I think they should have explained the format more clearly in the description. I would not buy this again.

Not on fine paper

I buy this calendar every year through the Met and the paper quality was always glossy and not flimsy. The Met sold out and I bought this year's through Amazon. The paper is flimsier and does not have the fine finish I am use to.

Adds some excitement to my desk

I love this. It really adds some excitement to my desk in an otherwise mundane job. It's sturdy and you get to keep the days (you don't have to rip it off just put the expired days in the back). My only complaint is that I would like to see more modern and abstract art. It's all gorgeous, just a little too safe. I need some art excitement in my life haha. I would 100% buy again and I look forward to the following days.

Detail of artwork is the main image on the page

I have bought the page a day art calendars for two years now and would give them 5 stars. This one gets two as the entire image is not on the page it is just a detail with the full image printed in a small area below and the paper quality is very thin. I use the calendar as a teaching tool with my child and was disappointed to see that the full Image was not displayed across the page. In my opinion something sold as a product of The Met should include full images not a thumbnail of one with a detail as the main image.

Daily treat for the eyes

Every year this is the go-to gift for family and friends. It is a daily treat for the eyes. Order a couple of months before the end-of-the-year holidays.

Our favorite

Second year I bought it, and my family loves it. My son changes the day every morning, and I think it's a great way to introduce kids to art. Both my kids study the picture and read about it. And I don't even have to tell them to do that.

Redesigned easel... well done!

Last year, the easel/frame that came with this calendar cut off too much of the picture. We ended up using an older model plastic easel that we had saved. I was pleased to see that this year they have redesigned the easel so that it doesn't block the view of the print at all! Good job on the redesign! We've had an art a day calendar for years now. This one is by far our favorite!

Disappointed in the quality

This redesign is awful. I've had the 2016 and 2017 calendars and 2018's is definitely a step down. The plastic part is hideous and will need to be cleaned regularly. The construction is also shoddy. The cardboard holder doesn't fold properly so mine is off-kilter. I tried to re-use the holder from 2017 but all the pages don't fit. Really disappointed.

No longer in a Clear Plastic Stand.

I have been buying this calendar and enjoying it for many years but I was disappointed with the 2016 calendar because it no longer comes in the Clear Plastic Stand. It's now in a Cardboard Stand. Plus they changed the format from Vertical to Horizontal so I can't easily use the stand from last year. I'll cut and modify my old plastic stand to work this year but this is probably the last time I'll order this calendar.

Not much of a calendar

This was a disappointment. It's a collection of loose postcard-sized pages in an unwieldy cardboard box with a cheap plastic cover. The paper is too thin and overly glossy, and has a different date and artwork on each side. (Saturdays and Sundays are always shoved together on a single sheet.) They often offer just a detail of an artwork, and the quality of the reproductions is unimpressive.

Great variety of art!

This is the third year I’ve gotten this calendar and I really enjoy the beautiful works of art. The paper it’s printed on is very nice quality and the colors are very sharp!

Pretty awful change.

Sadly, I have to agree with the negative reviews. I have this thing on my desk at work, and it's such a disappointment. Will not be buying next year. The cardboard stand/frame is sad, and cheapens the effect. I dislike the quality of the paper. Turning over each day to reveal the next -- given the flimsy paper -- is a mess. What a come-down. I used to look forward to change of page each day, and would bring new favorites to colleagues to discuss. Not now.

Lovely — and a great gift!

I always get this each year — it’s beautiful and it’s a lot of fun to see the new art each day

Beautiful daily calendar

My second year to buy this calendar and also bought as gift for friend. Highly recommend!

great calendar

Bought last year and introducing many new paintings of old masters as well as new painters I was not familiar with. I would like more complete info like what is the work made of --like oil on canvas or silver or etc

Practical and beautiful

An annual favorite stocking stuffer for my art loving daughter’s office!

Five Stars

What's not to love? The year in art. Get one every year.

Dislike format, like art

Now to change the calendar day you flip the page from front to back. Unfortunately you see the next days page when you are flipping which destroys the fun and surprise of a daily calendar. Art work is still high quality although paper is lighter grade than last year.

Changed manufacturers

This product is a long time MET item and they changed manufacturers for the 2016 calendar. The quality of the paper and the fit in the cardboard box is not easy. I have tossed days to make room for turning over the calendar pages. The paper coating is not shiny and the images are not clear like other calendars such as the National Audubon Birds calendar that still comes with the Lucite holder. I hope they will go back to the original style.

Shipping Malfunction

Beautiful calendar but the box came beat up so much that the corners are busted. January 1st hasn’t been as aestheticly pleasing as I had hoped.

Beautiful but tedious.

Beautiful prints but a PITA to change from day to day. You have to flip the pages and reinsert them into the easel instead of tearing them off.

Go back to old format

I agree with everyone else. The quality has gone way down. Paper stock is not as good. Lucite case is gone. Why did you do this to your loyal customers Met Museum? I've been buying the calendar for years, and even buy some for gifts. I am very disappointed. Go back to old format please!!!!!

A family tradition

I get one every year. Act before they are gone. Wonderful pictures, new every day.

This is quite amazing for just $11 Although it would be nicer to have each date on each card instead of making it double-sided. I gave it to a friend as a gift and she loved it!

New format very disappointing!

I'm not alone in my disappointment, judging by other reviews, with the new format of this calendar. I've ordered 35 +/- of these for friends and for my use as gifts for several years. I won't order it again. Instead of a treat every morning, turning the page is a total frustration, an unpleasant way to start the day. It is very difficult to even see what is on the page. Too bad, these calendars made nice gifts.

No more Metropolitan Museum of Art calendars

No more Metropolitan Museum of Art for me or the folks I usually gift with them. The cardboard, clumsy frame they have chosen to frame the art with and cheesy quality of art cards are the reasons.

Nice images but pages flop over in holder...I'm going back to the Workman brand.

This was a Christmas gift for someone who appreciates good art. The quality of the case and the individual reproduction date sheets is excellent. I've gotten a lot of grateful comments for this calendar gift.

Great Disappointment!!

In comparison to previous calendars with 6" X 6" pictures, this one has very small graphics. The plexiglass holder has been replaced with unattractive cardboard. I buy the calendar for the pictures, which are sadly minimized in this version. The description of each art piece is too prominent.

Don’t let the calendar fall on the floor!

Cool design, but isn’t secure in the holder... the daily calendar cards may or may not have been knocked down and spread across the floor... oops. Good daily pieces of work, though!

A Masterpiece for each day of the Year!

This daily 365 Daily Masterpiece Calendar is a delightful surprise for each day. The art pieces are very wide in genre and though some I would not pick, they offer a delightful selection of all types of art.

A piece of art every day

This calendar is so much fun and very educational. Love the artwork. I look forward to revealing a new piece of art everyday.

Not the one I was expecting

What I wanted: the page-a-day calendar with the big, beautiful images in the sleek lucite frame/holder.

Horrible change

I agree with all the negative reviews. I look forward to this calendar every year and this one is a huge disappointment. Not only is it flimsy and hard to change, the art is small and difficult to see. Please go back to the old version.

Love it!

Great Christmas present!

We preferred the 2015 version much better. The 2016 version is cumbersome to use and takes up more space. Will not purchase again if they don't change the format back.

I bought the 2015 Metro daily desk calendar and loved it!

I bought the 2015 Metro daily desk calendar and loved it!! So when I bought the 2016 version, I anxiously awaited its arrival. I am very disappointed in the style of pages and frame for this year! The pages are back to back for each day and sit in a cardboard holder that does not stand up easily. The 2015 model had an acrylic frame that was easy to manage with a page for each day up to half the year, then reverse all for the second half year. I tried to insert the 2016 pages into the 2015 frame but it does not easily fit. As with almost everything, quality diminishes with each passing year. Sigh....

wonderful art but mediocre packaging

love the art but the new packaging is clumsy and not up to previous years standards

Two Stars

A sad year for the Met calendar. Smaller images, clumsy frame, "days" are difficult to change comparatively, etc.....

Too much trouble for a something as simple as a daily calendar

The pictures are beautiful but the functionality of it sucks. Each calendar page is printed on both sides so you have to pull each individual page out of the holder, flip it over, re-insert it into the holder to see the next day. Sure it saves on paper and makes it eco-friendly but its not as convenient as a daily tear off calendar.

For the love of Art

Beautiful, high quality paper. The box becomes the easel and frame for each day. Love it!

best calendar

New holder is a big disappointment, to put it mildly.

I have been buying this calendar for a number of years & have been very pleased. I am exceedingly disappointed in this year's calendar holder. I would never order it again. It is unattractive, cheap-looking & cumbersome. MOMA needs to return to its former plastic holder.

Lovely calendar for those that love art

I love the variety of each card, the printing is good with sharp, clear images and the size is perfect for my desk. I've regretted buying calendars sight unseen on websites before, but this one is a solid win for me and I'm delighted by it!

Not as good when compared to the last few years

o.k., I am lighting up a little on my negative review. Now that I have the calender up for a couple days, I can see why it is a good design. Its all made out of cardboard/paper, so it is better for the enviroment I'm sure. It's also quite handsome. However, when compared to the last few year's plastic holder....this year it takes away from the art more, the images are smaller, it takes up more table space, and the most strange change is that you have to flip each day over to the backside of that sheet. I find this strange because now everyday I have to flip the sheet over and put it back in at the front. which is hard b/c of the window/frame holder. It's not really hard, but when compared to last year's its more difficult. This design would be better if they kept it where I put every sheet in the back and then half way through the year, flip them all over one time. The sad thing is is that sales will probably still be good this year b/c people are expecting the same simple design, then most will not return it b/c its not horrible. So only next year, sales may go down, which means maybe they wil better the design for 2018. Oh well, we will see, maybe they could take from both designs to make an enviromentally sound holder that is simpler and gives more to the art. It's probably different this year b/c they changed from Workman Publishing to Abrams Publishing.

Poor substitute for a beloved product!

What a disappointing product! I have enjoyed the Met Museum Masterpieces Calendar and given them for gifts for at least eight years. This year's edition is such a letdown! Instead of the sturdy clear lucite frame/stand, we get a flimsy gray cardboard substitute, that makes it difficult to change the daily art work. The pictures are decidely smaller, and the accompanying printed work is so small it is almost unreadable. Although many of the pictures are still beautiful. they get crumpled just moving them within the frame. The "frame" is so fragile, that it is already starting to bend, which damages the pictures, and which causes the whole box to slip forward. Unless some serious changes are made, I shall not be ordering any of them next year. I shall miss the pleaure of a fresh museum masterpiece day of the year. I cannot imagine the Met putting out such a poor excuse for a beloved treasure. Phyllis Page

Beautiful but sneak peaks abound

I bought this as a gift for a co-worker, so I also get to appreciate the calendar. It comes in a great stand so that you don't have to rip pages off, and the images are printed on good quality paper. All the pictures are varied, beautiful, and interesting. The only downside is the sequence of days. Jan 2 is printed on the back of Jan 1 and so on, so each time you flip the day, you get a sneak peak at the day after (Jan 3). A better method would be to print the first half of the year on the front sides so that you could go to midyear and then flip the whole calendar around.

Completely disappointed

I have received the 365 day Met Museum of Art calendar for the past 4 years as a Christmas gift. I dearly loved the previous version of this calendar with a clear plastic stand, large colorful pictures of the art, with the date at the top of the calendar in large, easy to read font. This calendar is sub-par to the previous calendar. The pictures of the art are much smaller, the holder is cheaper cardboard and it sits horizontally instead of vertically, the date and art are less noticeable. I am having difficulty getting the paper back in the holder when I have to flip it over to view the next date because it is stuffed into the box too tightly. This calendar doesn't have the "wow" factor it had in previous years. Bad design, bad idea, go back to the way you had it.

Disappointingly different from last year

This calendar is quite different from previous years and I'm a little disappointed. They have put it in a grey cardboard frame instead of the clear plastic one, and I think it detracts from the vibrancy, plus it reduces the size of the pictures. Change is hard I guess, but I don't see the point of this change except to make it cheaper, or maybe more completely recyclable.

I'm done with this one

I buy this calendar every year, but this year will be the last time. This year's calendar is so disappointing, so cheap and flimsy compared to previous years. I should have looked more carefully at the packaging when I bought it, but because I've been buying it for so many years I assumed it wouldn't radically change. I hate the cheesy new holder; every time I move the calendar to change the day, the whole thing collapses. Come on, MOMA, bring the classy original.

First time with calendar and I think it's lovely - others should look at product photos

I see that there are a lot of reviews from those who had the previous calendar who don't like the way it is now. I cannot speak to that. I would like to point out that the photos of the item very clearly demonstrate the setup and packing of the calendar, so if someone had an issue with that, I have a hard time understanding why they would purchase the item and then give it a bad review when they knew what they were getting. As someone who never owned this daily calendar prior to this year, I love it. It is a step above most 365 day calendars that you have to tear off and then pick at the remaining glue that inevitably builds up and makes a sort of cheap awning over the rest of the pages. I am, thus far, highly enjoying this calendar. This calendar is held in a thick, pretty, silvery cardboard that reminds me of a matted frame around a painting (which I'm sure was the idea.) It fits neatly when folded over into a stand and has not tipped over; the prints are vivid and printed at a high DPI on a glossy, almost card-stock thick paper. Each page for the day is flipped over to the next to save room and weight.

The Met messed up with this calendar. I have ...

The Met messed up with this calendar. I have been buying this for years but not anymore. I will echo what the other reviewers have said: quality is cheap, paper is cheap, pictures are smaller, dates are hard to read, the process of flipping the image is a lot harder. The MET claims this change was made for the environment. The quality tells a different story - this change was made to save money.

Like so many others

Like so many others, I was disappointed in the frame change for 2016. IF YOU ORDERED THE MET 2017 calendar, I HAVE a HACK: I took all the pages out and deconstructed the cardboard frame so I just had a backing. Then I put all the pages and the backing into a decorative wooden plate holder (two carved "Ls" with brass hinges joining the spine - to display your fancy china) . This worked pretty well - no pesky ugly cardboard frame. I could see the whole page. It was a bit rickety, but I used it all year, and the silliness of trying to fiddle with getting pages out and then in again was eliminated.

Last year, why?

I bought this calendar in 2017 and received 2016. I threw it away, as it was worthless. I didn't see the year printed in what I looked at to buy it. I feel ripped off!

Perfect for Ex's Birthday

Birthday is early January; always enjoys something from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Small and inexpensive, nice gesture, keeps the peace.

Horrible Change from 2015

I bought the previous 365 day calendar featured by The Met and was disappointed to see that they got rid of the clear plastic case to a silver cardboard border. It makes the works look tacky and did not like the change, it probably saves them money to manufacturer the product while keeping the prices the same but overall makes the product look horrible.

Sabotaged daily treat.

I have purchased this Calendar for several years, and I am on record as having written a 5* review expressing high satisfaction with the product. This year is an absolute disappointment. I purchased 4 as gifts for special friends and myself for 2016 as early as October, and my embarrassment for giving such a shoddy gift to them in the light of past years is so acute I have had to contact them to apologise. The sheets are paper rather than card, the day and date line is not bold enough, the display holder is shabby, tasteless and intrusive to the featured work of art and the rotational display system seems to have been changed for no sensible reason. In a nutshell the Calendar has been changed in every respect - one suspects in the interests of economy. A daily treat has been sabotaged, and will not give the pleasure as in the past. A huge disappointment and future lost sales from this enthusiastic user.

Great calendar

Each day my kids forget to turn the next page over on this fine calendar. Each year I buy the latest edition, somehow convincing myself they will gladly rush to it each morning prior to arguing over the cereal, contemplating and discussing the relative merits of the august artistic canon captured within. Nicely produced and a good range of art gathered within. Fully recommended.

beautiful

I am immensely enjoying using this calendar. I'd been worried that it would take up too much space / be too oversized for my desk space and it is quite big but the pictures are so beautiful and it is so well presented that it is definitely worth the space sacrifice. lovely selection of paintings; sculptures, treasures, textiles, all with details of artist. So pleased that I treated myself to this.

great calendar, and never any repeats from year to year!

My dad adores these calendars, always get them for him. The plastic case is very study and is a long-lasting stand for the year.

Disappointing purchase

this calendar isn't' nearly as good as in previous years. In fact. It is most disappointing, the quality of the paper is not up to standard and the cardboard stand is very inferior to previous years. I have bought this calendar for years & have given them to many friends for Christmas presents ,all have expressed their disappointment. What a let down

A Masterpiece

Now this is a really classy product. Well made, great taste - I am so pleased to have found it for my desk. Well done the Met.

Beautiful calendar, excellent value,

BIG NOOOOPE!

They cutting the pictures only giving the part of it, what totally destroys the intention of the artist, and the other half are just some antient vases and stuff. Any real art admirer you will regret this buy so never do it again as I also won't do it either. And by the way no info, why not to put the whole picture with some information on the backside. Seems promoters of Metropolitan just think how to make things nicely look and not about what it should contain.

Disappointing

Disappointed. This was not the calendar I thought I ordered. I am not happy with this one. The holder is a color that does not fit in with the artwork and the dates are too small. I would like to return it if possible.

Toller Kalender!

Great Morning Activity

We have used these calendars as a morning activity and inspiration for our children to make their own interpretations of the art displayed. There is such a diverse and beautiful collection to discover.

Metropolitan Museum of Art Calendar.

Perfect. The silver coloured stand was easy to put together and added a touch of elegance to the calendar. (which was already a beautiful show case for the pictures of art pieces and pictures). Definitely worth purchasing; If you like fine art, you'll like the calendar. Price is reasonable.

Museums Art

Schöne Sammlung von Kunstgegenständen. Aber die Box ist unpraktisch, wo die Bilder drin sind. Man muss rumwursteln um die Seiten zu wechseln.

I can buy it cheaper after it's outdated because I get it for the art not the calendar

Like that they are sold cheaper when they are outdated. I buy them for the art so who cares about the date.

A good way of brushing up on your knowledge of great works of Art.

I discovered many works that I didn't know. It was greatly appreciated.

THERE ARE VIRTUALLY NO NICE ART WORK PICTURES

I SERIOUSLY MISJUDGED THIS CALENDAR, THERE ARE VIRTUALLY NO NICE ART WORK PICTURES, ABOUT 10 BLACK AND WHITE WHICH ARE BLURRED, ABOUT 10 WITH HISTORICAL INTEREST AND THE REST MOST REALLY UGLY AND GARISH. THE FRONT PICTURE GIVES THE IMPRESSION THERE ARE GOING TO BE SOME FINE PICTURES. WELL NOT THE CASE SADLY.
