INTERESTING.
No really, and honestly I can feel her about the whole loud boys thing. But it's interesting how much the guy changed to the point where he is completely different. I have heard good things about this series but never really got the chance for it till now. I can't wait to read the rest.
It’s really good.
The book came in good quality and no damage. It’s really good.
Nostalgic
I loved it made me think about the manga and animes i used to read in high school 😊 it was everything I expected it to be! I will be purchasing vol 2.
Awesome book series!
I saw the anime already but this, was a whole different level from the anime! Came as expected, and I absolutely loved this series. Shed a few tears, but maybe that’s cause I’m too sensitive !
Worth the Wait
I waited a long time for this to come back in stock and I nabbed it as soon as it did. I don't think I enjoyed it as some of the creators other works, but I still did like it. It was cute and I like the idea of friends to enemies to ??? I'll be picking up volume two!
This is much better than I expected it to be.
It starts off slow, yes. It also drags awhile. However, about halfway through, the pace picks up, things happen, & towards the end of the volume, the story gets really interesting. I am eager to start the next volume. This author, I absolutely love her style. The girls are so beautiful. Their eyes... my God, their eyes are so hauntingly beautiful. You gaze into them & they seem endless, just quiet, cold beauty. Art, excellent. Dialogue, very true, very real. Characters, believable, likeable, relatable, admirable.
Book

Amazing
I’ve only watched the anime but I’m really enjoying reading the manga for the first time. It’s also been a while since I’ve watched the anime but I’m glad to be able to get back into the story.

Cute packaging and great condition
Must read for romantics
This is my favorite manga series. I read it back in 2014/15 and have been patiently waiting to buy the english edition. So worth it though. If you love shoujo manga, or are a romantic at heart, this is the series for you. It's a coming of age story with lots of laughs, angst, and the joys of growing up and finding yourself and your true friends. Please suplort the author and give it a read. (Not to mention the art is beautiful)

She loved it! And is waiting for volume 2! It’s out of stock!!!
A recommended read for romance lovers
Once I read the first chapter I was hooked. The budding romance and awkward angst is in a way relatable. For the first volume it really makes you wanna see what will happen next. I totally recommend this. It also came in good condition, art looks solid.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS MANGA/ANIME
Nice
It was nice i recommend reading it
Love it!
The art is beautiful and I'm already attached to these characters after reading the first volume. This childhood, first love story has some added depth because the two protagonists have been separated for three years during which they both endured quite a bit of hardship. Will they learn to accept the other as they are even with the new baggage the carry with them? I'm so excited to find out!

I LOVE THIS SERIES
One of the greatest Shoujo series EVER
This is one of the greatest shoujo manga series ever and finally gets a quality print in the US. It is emotionally deep, beautifully drawn and told, incredible characters, natural drama without unnecessary forced plot devices. It is a landmark series and you really should read it if you love shoujo.
Wonderful
This one of my new favorite manga series. Taking a look at the story from this first novel says. How is the heroine tell the guy she has feelings for him.

Such a cute story line
Great
Love everything about it!
Setup so fast! Let's get into this story...!!
In middle school Futaba Yoshioka thought all boys were loud and obnoxious... except for Kou Tanaka. They agree to meet to go to a summer festival together but he never shows up. Fast forward to high school where she meets Tanaka again, but he's totally different and that even includes his name! Will they be able to rekindle what they had in the past?! I was excited to see a new shoujo romance being released by VIZ Media... I found Takane & Hana the same way and have fallen in love with that series! I had no idea what to expect and it was fun to just dive in with Ao Haru Ride vol 1 ... I really liked Futaba, right off. She is an uncertain girl in the middle school arc, put off by all the attention she gets from boys at a time she isn't really interested in them yet. Then in high school she's made some deliberate choices so that she can be different from that middle school version of herself. I could really relate to this choice... and I enjoyed how the return of Tanaka totally shook her decision! Not that boys should change us but when we feel a connection we should consider their POV... Right now Tanaka is a bit of a mystery! I don't mind that at all because I'm in the story just as much for Futaba and the growth of her friendships... Since I had no idea what this would turn out to be at first I was a little stumped because everything was happening so fast... in the middle school arc. I think it reflected really well what we think love is and yet it also made the loss of that first love experience quite poignant! I really appreciated that as I became quite caught wanting Futaba to get somewhere with the high school Tanaka!! And what a crazy yet not totally unexpectedly different boy he turned out to be... We learn why Tanaka disappeared suddenly which I really appreciated because it gave us a sort of ending to the volume... while also opening this entire can of worms (yuck?!) for us to enjoy in the coming volumes. The new Tanaka isn't afraid to voice his opinions to Futuba, the shine has worn off his first love and I really liked that. Futuba isn't really in a happy place so much as in a "I'm surviving high school and it isn't too bad" sort of place. Even though HS is a passing phase I do think it should be a time that is upbeat and enjoyed and that is what Tanaka pushes Futuba to consider! While I ADORE the cover art of this volume (this clean, focused character art is some of my favorite kind of manga cover art!) the internal art is more of a background-less talking faces sort of comic. It has really stellar character designs... I can keep characters separate and recognize them from plot interactions and Tanaka is particularly dreamy!! BUT there aren't many, if any locations. While this is a little annoying I was still totally sucked into the characters and they came off the page with the snarky things that Tanaka said and how Futuba questioned her choices! Ao Haru Ride is a new series that I am so very excited that I got to pick up! Io Sakisaka is a mangaka who really hooks us with a female character that we want to follow BECAUSE of her female friendships and individual growth besides her potential love affair with the mysterious Tanaka... I look forward to checking out volume 2!!
Gentle Slice-of-life
Ao Haru Ride is a gentle slice-of-life high school romance series. It has its own charms and is a very separate animal from titles like Kimi Ni Todoke - perhaps a little less mature but a bit more heartfelt. The art is clean and easy to follow and the mangaka makes some really good statements about not judging others and being true to yourself. Story: Futaba hates the noisy boys in junior high school; all except for quiet Tanaka. When he suddenly asks to meet her at a clocktower to go to the Summer festival, she is excited. But he never shows and she learns his family moved away shortly before. Years later, in high school, she finds Tanaka again. But his name has changed as so has he; is there a chance to rekindle her first love again with this greatly changed Tanaka? This first volume explores Futaba's friendships. She's happy not to stand out and to not be too girlish - so she doesn't compete with her girlfriends and make them feel threatened. Other girls in school, however, can't or don't - and become a target of bullying and harassment. When the older Tanaka calls her out on it, Futaba begins to reevaluate what she wants and needs from friendships. Since this is the first volume, we don't have much in the way of seeing the main couple together. Right now, Tanaka is dealing with issues with his family and is trying to figure out how much of the past he wants to embrace or reject. Futaba is one of those compelling decisions. In all, this is a lovely, gentle, if somewhat shallow slice-of-life story. It's oddly compelling and a nice read when you want something easy and a bit romantic. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.
Amazing First Volume---Heart-Pounding Drama!
Thank you to NetGalley, VIZ Media, and Io Sakisaka for the opportunity to read Ao Haru Ride in exchange for an honest review. Also known as Blue Spring Ride, I always felt like this is the work Sakisaka is best known for, and it has been on my list for a while, I just never got around to it. I enjoyed Strobe Edge and recently read the Galleys for Love Me, Love Me Not Volumes 1 and 2, also by Io Sakisaka. I likewise have the anime for Blue Spring Ride, thous it sits on my shelf collecting dust. I just haven't got around to watching it yet, but after reading the manga, this may have just jumped up to the "next" slot on my watch list. The manga starts off with a short chapter taking place during junior high: Futaba isn't really interested in boys. They are tall, loud, and obnoxious. But not Tanaka. He seems quite the opposite of most boys, and Futaba takes notice. This could be a perfect romance. Tanaka seems to like Futaba, but when he overhears a comment she makes to a male classmate, she may have messed everything up and lost her chance. Now in high school, where the rest of the series takes place, Futaba still thinks of Tanaka, wondering where he moved to and what might have been if she hadn't said she hated boys. After three years, Futaba runs into a boy at school that must be Tanaka, but he has a different name, and he looks and sounds different. Even though his parents divorced and he has a different name, this boy is still the Tanaka Futaba liked all those years ago, her first love. But things change over the years. Can they ever find a place that resembles the way they once liked each other, or are they just too different now? This is a fantastic first volume, and I can see why this title is so popular. This is definitely a mang aI will continue reading. There's only 13 volumes...and 6 light novels...Let's go!
High school first love sweetness
This is pretty much a typical high school romance story. If you like manga and have been reading for a while, you've read similar stories a hundred times over. That doesn't mean that it's something terrible, there's a reason they're so popular and enduring and keep reappearing. Ao Haru Ride has heart and the sweetness of first love wrapped up in a cutely drawn story that contains two great messages: there is such a thing as second chances and being true to yourself is always the best. Yes, the plot so far is a bit generic. However, this is the first volume and just setting up the rest of the story. I like what I read and I have a feeling that things are going to get very interesting (and even sweeter) in subsequent volumes. Definitely put this series on my radar of series to read further. Many thanks to Netgalley and Viz Media for the chance to read it in exchange for an honest review.
Yes
I read it online but it's great

my first manga
this was my first manga and i love it so much
good, but damaged
i love the manga so much, but when i opened the package the book was damaged. it was bent two different ways, besides that though i really enjoyed this.
amazing
The manga itself is really enjoyable and I love it. However the book came a bit damaged with the edges scuffed. Not a really big deal though, but I did wish it was in pristine quality.
All the Right Feels
Being alone or trying not to be. Starting over. Remembering crucial moments that were real to you at the time. It’s a continued journey from middle school to first year high school and then onto second year. Can’t wait to read the next instalment.
