The remarkable truth about angels, the agents of Heaven, unveiled through Scripture—from the New York Times best-selling author of Everything You Need

“Outstanding! As one would expect from David Jeremiah, this book reflects a theologian’s concern, a pastor’s heart, and a Biblicist’s accuracy.”—Dr. Bruce Wilkinson

People have long been fascinated by stories of angel sightings, yet many contemporary beliefs about angels are based on misconception and myth rather than solid, biblical truth. As he’s done so brilliantly for decades, respected Bible teacher Dr. David Jeremiah of Turning Point Ministries uses Scripture to unveil the remarkable truth about these agents of heaven and their role in our world and our lives.

What are angels? What is their role in God’s plan? Are they present? Do they appear? Do they give us personal insight about our work and our worship? In this broad and thorough survey of Scripture, Dr. Jeremiah clearly and simply separates fact from fiction as it relates to angels. His enlightening findings are supported with illustrations and insights from prominent teachers, such as Billy Graham, Corrie ten Boom, C. S. Lewis, and more.

Dr. Jeremiah’s down-to-earth style guides readers around the hype about angels and directly into everything you need to know about the “substance of things unseen!”

I was led to read this book after hearing Jonathan ...

I was led to read this book after hearing Jonathan Falwell preach on Hebrews 1:14. Then, I read Billy Graham's book on Angels. I challenge every Christian and Non-Christian to read these two books along with the Bible translation that is understandable to you. Pray before, during, and after the reading for understanding and transforming change in your life. Don't read in a hurry -- read to digest and absorb understanding relative to your and others' journey in life. I am now reading A.W. Tozer's book on Experiencing the Presence of God. You will be blessed beyond imagination!

Dr. Jeremiah hits another home run!!

I admire Dr. Jeremiah greatly, and this book is taken straight from the Bible, with complete explanations of the texts. So, first he dispels some of the foolish notions we have about angels, and their role in our lives, and then he explains in great detail the Biblical roles they actually have as we move through our lives. An inspiring and educational book!

Good Book, Bad Edition

While the book is both fascinating and informative, unfortunately this reissue edition has rather small type, which is also somewhat faint. I noticed both flaws at once, and was very disappointed. I've read several other books by David Jeremiah, and none of those had this flaw. I contacted the ministry directly to see if my particular book was just a flawed one, and was told that they were all printed at the same time, so returning it and reordering wouldn't help the situation. I'll probably struggle through it, but will be hesitant to order future offerings from the ministry for fear of encountering the same problem. It will definitely not be enjoyable, or easy, to read.

David Jeremiah's Angels

"ANGELS" by Dr. David Jeremiah This scholarly work is subtitled "Angels: Who They Are; How They Help; What the Bible Reveals." It delves into understanding that is derived from hundreds of references in the Scripture (NIV used), but also from reliable experiences reported by people in the recent past. Dr. Jeremiah's aim is to clarify understanding about angels and to refute misconception and myth. And indeed he does this brilliantly, answering the questions we might have. I found this book to be a real eye-opener. Jeremiah points out the important work that angels have done from early in Old Testament times and that they may continue to do today. He has substantiated his ideas with Scripture and testimony of individuals. He addresses the belief that some have about personal "guardian angels." He backs this belief by citing Scripture: Psalm 91:11-12 "For He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone." One interesting chapter compares angels with believing humans: differences and similarities. For example, both have immortality, but angels seem to have an extremely long life. Gabriel, for example, was there for Daniel and then again for John's and Jesus' birth announcements. Jesus tells about a similarity in the two: that deceased believers will neither marry nor be given in marriage, but "are like angels in heaven." (Mark 12:25) Another chapter describes "Hell's Angels" about those wicked ones who have fallen and are carrying out the evil intents of Satan. Jesus' interaction with angels is found in yet another chapter: His birth, His temptation, at Gethsemane, and after His Resurrection. Angels are innumerable. Various Bible passages cite a "mighty multitude: or "thousands upon thousands." They are also described in Scripture as being like "winds" or like "flames of fire." Imagine! Sometimes angels appear before men, looking like men, too: to Gideon, Samson's father, Lot, Daniel, Apostle John, Joseph (father of Jesus, several times in dreams.) Angels, just as believers, are servants of God. They do things in support of God's kingdom. For example, they sing and rejoice with each soul saved. Based upon what Dr. Jeremiah has read and studied, he says that angels have "great intelligence and communication abilities." Angels act as God's messengers over and over again in Scripture. I cite these well-known examples: Mary, the mother of Jesus, regarding the divine conception; the many angelic visions recorded by John in Revelation. They also may protect God's chosen and provide guidance to man. Dr. Jeremiah even believes that angels give us comfort and encouragement. The word "angels" means "messengers." However, they do much more than this. Just look at the various names for angels to assist in understanding what they do: "host of heaven" (2 Chronicles 18:18), "holy ones" (Psalm 89:7), "mighty ones who do His bidding" (Psalm 103:20). There are "cherubim" or "cherubs" (2 Samuel 22:10:10), and "seraphim" or "seraphs", meaning "burning one" or "shining one" (Psalm 104:4). We also find two specific names of angels: Gabriel and Michael. The latter was called an "archangel." Evil angelic forces have some other names: powers, dominions, authorities (of the dark world), and spiritual hosts of wickedness. God Himself seems to manifest Himself as "the angel of the Lord" on occasion. One such reference is made in Judges 2:1,4 where God speaks at length as an angel about Israel's disobedience. We seem to be closely observed by angels. See the "watchers" in Daniel 4:13,17 (NKJV). And, it is a real possibility that angels may accompany God's people to heaven. When the beggar in Luke 16 died, "the angels carried him to Abraham's side." NOTE: Despite the weight of this subject matter, it is easily read and understood. We can trust Dr. Jeremiah as a well-known authority on the Bible. Reviewed by Margaret Lezark in March 2013

This book is a blessing.

Dr. David Jeremiah has given each and every reader the blessing of knowing what the Bible teaches about angels. He has organized the Scriptures about angels to reveal how often they are spiritual participants in the world and in our lives; always taking their assignment from the Lord, God Almighty.

In-depth abd interesting

Very in-depth and interesting book. Found a difference of opinion in the area of guardian angels thereby 4 stars instead of 5. If you want a good insight of the heavenly angels this is a very good book.

Comprehensive book about Angels

I love Dr. Jeremiah but was a little disappointed in this book. It felt a little like the publisher asked him to write a book about angels and it had to be a minimum length. It really felt stretched thin. Having said that, Dr. Jeremiah is true to the Word, as expected.

Very disappointed.

I ordered the LARGE PRINT book for my VISUALLY IMPAIRED sister. She informed me that she received a regular (SMALL) print book. To make matters worse, she said the letters are very light because the printer of the book DID NOT use enough ink. What gives here??? Doesn’t this company know the difference between LARGE PRINT vs. SMALL PRINT? Now my disabled sister has to arrange for someone to help her return the book. I can’t do this because I live in another state. I’m very disappointed.

God does send Angels to appear as a loved one in our time of need.

A must read. It helps give you a clearer understanding of how God sends His Angels to help us in our times of need. He explains in this book that God may even allow them to take on the appearance of a loved one. My mother saw my Dad the night before she died and told me how he helped her get her throat cleared. I knew we cannot come back to visit our loved ones but I believed Mama and Dr. Jeremiah helped me understand.

It delves into understanding that is derived from hundreds of references in the Scripture (NIV used), but also from reliable experiences reported by people in the recent past.

Over the years I’ve read the Bible cover to cover—the book “Angels” by Dr. David Jeremiah is a very informative and well written book. I recommend the reading of this book for anyone who would like to understand the truth concerning angels.

One of the best books you could possibly read on Angels!

I’ve read quite a few books on angels and this is one of the most comprehensive studies I have had the pleasure to read. Biblically accurate and in stream with facts vs hype, David Jeremiah does it well. He leaves no stone unturned and sets a healthy spiritual tone. This is one you might want to read twice! Huge praise for this one! Informative, on point, true, Biblically based and beautifully written!

He doesn’t know anything!!

This is a waste of money sometimes we see the name doctor and we think that these evangelist are very knowledgeable all he did was repeat scriptures I didn’t learn anything.I already know this stuff! If you gave this evangelist five stars shame on you! How simple is your knowledge of Scripture especially in Hebrew.

The best thing I have ever read on angels

I have recently read a couple of books on angels. It was something I became interested in. This is the best if the group. I cannot think of any issues it did not cover. At the same time it's a warm spiritual tome.

NOT ALL THAT.

I have read pther books by Dr Jeremiah. This is not his best work. There are probably better books out there regarding angels. This was very boring and long. I'm sorry that I cannot recommend this book.

ANGELS

I know about Angels. I gave one of my best angels to a neighbor man and he is for the first time enjoying what i have learned about Angels. This book is helpful for me to witness. thank you

This book explains angels from a Biblical view with comparisons to a world view. It is extremely informative and interesting.

This was a wonderful book. Dr

This was a wonderful book. Dr. Jeremiah stayed within the bounds of biblical scripture throughout. He did not speculate nor spiritualize. He did not turn the angels into cute little babies with wings. We must remember that angels were created by God and they serve him. They are not figments of our imagination. I highly recommend this book. You will learn the truth about angels.

Great read. Educational. Bible referenced. About a 8 font so a bit hard to read.

Sound Biblical view of Angels. Explains through scripture who they are and how God uses them. Very enlightening! Teeny tiny print makes it a bit hard to read.

A biblical look into the characteristics of angels

David Jeremiah does a great job in pointing the reader to numerous passages in the bible that refer to angels. He is like a compass in that he continuously points the reader to focus on God. Scripturally sound… I especially liked the part about angels escorting believers to heaven when we die.

Angels-who they are and how...

David Jeremiah takes a well thought out, Bible based and therefore non-sensationalist look at angels I found it most infirmative and helpful.I would recommend this book to all, but especially to Christians who are unsure of what they think about angels.

I was led to read this book after hearing Jonathan ...

Informative and Biblical

It is nice to read a book about angels that is Biblically based and is not based on speculation. David Jeremiah keeps your interest and also makes you desire to serve the Lord more effectively.

Great information

Great narrative, great reference, and scripture based. Good and easy reading. Hard to put down. Enjoyed this very, very much.

Great and informative study of angels. Have used this for a group study - very enlightening and encouraging study.

Great for someone that knows they are leaving this world soon.

I listened to this series of sermons on this topic a year or two back. Loved it then. One of my all time favorites as far as sermons go. I am personally going though a health crisis right now and not sure if I will live too much longer. My faith in Jesus Christ and God are strong. These sermons really helped to cement my faith. It was so informative and backed up by the Bible. I found it interesting that there is no mention of female angels in the Bible as David Jerimiah stated. If you read your Bible there are no female angels mentioned but many of the angels you see for sale in stores are female. Angels must not be worshiped, another great point he makes. They are created beings and in Rev: 19:10 the angel tell John he must not worship him and he too only worship God. Another interesting fact, Humans do not become angels when we die. I recommend this book to anyone facing death or someone that fears death. David Jermiah also has this on cd in sermon format. I liked his sermons I have ordered the book. I believe the book will be as good as his sermons. I also suggest hearing his sermon on this. His cds and dvd's are priced too high. That is one thing I dislike about these pastors... they are in it for the money. The cds and dvds are way over priced.

Good book. Important to me during this stage in my life

Loved it..

So revealed the many truths of angels and done scripturally so that one sees how vital they are to God and how they have been so much a part of our lives from the beginning. They will continue to be a part that we can now more clearly see. The power of God revealed!

A must read

This is a wonderful book to read along with your Bible. The only thing I would say is look at the Amplified Bible or New King James Bible for your scripture look ups if you have questions. It was very informative and puts things in prospective about worshipping and fearing God. Jerimiah is a great writer, I have several of his books that I use along with my Amplified Bible to study. Scriptures that have been glanced over come popping out when Jerimiah writes. I also recommend his book "What in the world is going on", on the book of Revelation.

Great book and easily read with many scripture references

Great book and easily read with many scripture references, more knowledge than I had ever prayed for concerning angels and David Jerimiah puts out as usual so it's simple to understand

Enlightening

Biblical evidence of the reality of Angels. A wonderful reminder that they are out there, their focus is on Jesus, and their purpose is to worship and serve Him.

Inspirational and awe inspiring

Great book. Well written and informative in teaching about God's angles and their purpose in serving God. Really opened my eyes to this unseen realm which was both inspirational and awe inspiring, and as hoped the knowledge learned drew me closer to God. Nice!

Dr. Jeremiah hits another home run!!

I admire Dr. Jeremiah greatly, and this book is taken straight from the Bible, with complete explanations of the texts.

I liked this book very much. I especially appreciated that it was based on what scripture says about angels .

Informative, Sound, Biblical Read

Very informative Christian book, explaining what angels are (and are not), their role as ordained by the Lord, all with a sound biblical basis. After understanding how God created the angels and how mighty they can be, knowing He created us also, can't help but make me feel humble and more in awe of the holiness and mightiness of the Lord.

Dr Jeremiah is always a great teacher and author. The print is a little hard for me to read. I don't usually need large print.

Exactly as described.

Are there angels here with us?

Love the insight Dr Jeremiah has into this topic (angels).

THEY are all around US

Another great book written with scripture explained. I had never given thought to how many times, angels appeared to man, in Biblical history.. Easy read and well explained. Thanks, Dr Jeremiah.

very good and educational

This was a very good book and I would definately tell others who want to know more about Angels to read it. It is good because it uses scriptures from the Bible and is all based on the Bible of how Angels are and of what they do. Too many people these days think that Angels should be called upon and prayed to and act like they are worshipping them, which is a very big no no! I have noticed that in countless books about Angels, many people often will leave God out of the picture when in fact in was God who created the Angels and this book helped me to understand more about the Angels of the bible and of how they may help us today, with only God telling them to do so first. Anyway, I was really glad for this book and it expalined things really good about Angels and kept to the Bible.

Informative!

Angels are Real

This was one of two different books on Angels we purchased for Wed. night Bible study. The first one is actual Bible study with questions and answers, but this is a very good one to go along with the other because it's more detailed regarding what Angels actually are, the roles they play or the work they do, when, where, how or for what reason they may appear to us. I like too that David Jeremiah has plenty of scripture to back up what he's saying. I think this is a very good book and I highly recommend it.

Sometimes angels appear before men, looking like men, too: to Gideon, Samson's father, Lot, Daniel, Apostle John, Joseph (father of Jesus, several times in dreams.) All You Could Want To Know About Angels

I loved this book because it is completely Scriptural, and it gives a wonderful, overall, explanation of angels, both the Holy Angels who work at the dispatch of God Himself, and the fallen angels who followed Lucificer when he rebelled against God. The Bible reveals a variety of angels who protect and defend God's children at His command. Some have been seen but most are at work around us in a way we never realize with our earthly knowledge. This book is very credible because of the writer (David Jeremiah is a wonderful Bible teacher) and it is more complete in it's explanation of angels than any other book I have read so far.

Typeset to small

I'm sure it's probably a good book. My problem is the type set is to small. I wear glasses with bifocals but am having a hard time reading because of the size of the words, and to make it worse the print is very light, making it harder to read. I've only been able to read the first 20 or so pages and felt like I was straining my eyes to much. May return.

Angels

As an avid reader, and a Christian, and a student of Prophecy. I often find it difficult to locate an author who can hold my interest, as well as teach. After seven books authored by Dr. David Jeremiah, he has become my focal point of interest in this area of study. And I find his method of writings, makes it easy and relaxing to read and study God's word. I will continue to purchase his books, and others through this source (AMAZON). Your Library is amazing. John R. Adams

Real insight on angels

Dr. J.'s approach to the topic is straight forward; no fluff; keeps the topic within biblical parameters. Angels are discussed; but the beginning chapter clearly informs or reminds reader that there are evil angels as well and "good" or guardian angels. Dr. J. keeps the topic in proper prospective in relation to the main purpose of the bible; i.e.; telling the gospel message. Good resource text.

Great

Book was in excellent condition.

Great information on Angels

A decent Read

this is really up to the author and what the believer wants to make of it. I saw too many times where the author is inputting his beliefs versus what can historically be proved. It is a decent read, but if you are very concerned about learning the truth, I would research anything you have questions about, however I find most (not all) of it is insightful.

Five Stars

Great book - for such a cheap price and it got here very quick

The best book on angels that I have come across

I think that this is a better book on angels than that by Billy Graham, although his book is also good. I have read at least three books on angels so I cannot claim that I think this is the best ever written on the subject!

Love this book! He has become my favorite Christian author and radio personality.

Should we worship angels?

I have not finished the book, but it is one of several I have by Dr. JEREMIAH. He is a wonderful Christian and writes his books as the scriptures say. He has studied the Bible for years and has gone to theological school and seminary. In the book "Angels", he speaks of how God uses them, and they protect us and guard us, but we are not to worship them. They are totally in service to the Lord. In the beginning, some of them left Heaven and followed Satan and are now thought of as demons. The book teaches much about angels many people don't know. It is worth reading!

Angels: Who They Are and How They Help--What the Bible Reveals

Dr David Jeremiah has written this book with the Bible in mind. He sets the guidelines in alignmnet with the Bible. Down to earth writing to help the reader understand the subject matter. I would certainly recommend this book for a study in class.

Angels

In the process of reading the book, I am enjoying it and learning a lot. I would not say that it is the best book I've ever read, but is sequential and follows a good pattern making it easy to read.

Great for anyone who wants Biblical examples of how God used and still uses angels

Dr. Jeremiah does an excellent job explaining all about angels with countless examples in scripture. It definitely debunks a lot of new age myths about angels. As a devout Christian, I loved learning about the role of angels through the OT, NT and today. It's definitely useful knowledge.

Two Stars

Biblically accurate, but dry reading. I couldn't finish it.

Angels

I am finding this book very helpful for my study on Angels It is authentically backed up by Scriptures It is easy to read and very interesting It would be useful to use as a Bible study in a group too

true doctrine

love it and was full of truths. i would encourage any one to read and learn what the bible says about angels and how they are in our lives

Learned a lot!

This is a good, Biblically-sound source of information on angels. It is interesting to read the compilation of most of the references to angels from the Bible, and to ponder what you learn. God put this information in the Bible for us to know! Have the book 4 stars instead of 5 because it wasn't as vivid as Dr. Jeremiah's sermon series on this subject (re-aired recently on the radio). But still a good resource!

excellant

good book, informative and kept your interest to the point that you didn't want to put it down. Definately would recommend to others. ]

What a great subject, inexhaustible. I got his perspective. Yes, the righteous people that gain the New Kingdom, will be above the angels. They will not lord it over them, nor will the angels be considered less. There will be bliss and joy to be with God in whatever position!

Love to read Christian books

Another great book by David Jeremiah

Print size is too small, very disappointing!

I was so excited to receive this book. Just received it today and have not read it yet, but I am very disappointed that the print is so small. It will not make for easy reading. I would have gladly paid more money for a book with larger print. I'm guessing that the font size might be an 8. I also purchased Billy Graham's book "Angels" and at least that print is of good readable size. Too bad the publisher made this unfriendly for the reader, besides the font being small the print is very light black; the Graham book is a much easier to read darker font besides being larger print.

It will change your mind on what you've been told!

Read for yourself what amazing creatures angels are, who they submit to, the different jobs they hold, and their purpose in our lives; how salvation does not affect them.

Holy, holy! Angels we have heard on High!

I bought this book to research angels and was so enlightened. Dr. David Jeremiah is a great teacher, and the used book shipped quickly and was in great shape.

Angeles Today

I don't know exactly what I expected. I was getting the book for a friend who believes in Angels but doesn't have faith in God. I was already aware of all the references in the Bible to Angels sent by God but for her I was more interested in life today and how God uses Angels to help us. I'm sure it's a wonderful book for many but just not what I was looking for. Carol Lentz

Angels are awesome warriors of God-don't offend them.

Dr. Jeremiah does a good job of outlining who angels are and what they really do. There is no greeting card phony theology here, thank God. There is so much false teaching about angels out in the media that it's refreshing to find the truth. Angels are not to be trifled with, they are not cutesy little creatures who are ever pleased to tag around with us. They're fierce beings on assignment from the Lord and not to be trifled with. Did you know that if you curse (or otherwise act against the will and nature of God) angels fold their wings and lower their heads and stand by doing nothing to assist you? That's because you have just offended God, and what offends God offends them. Word to the wise, take heed of that fact. I also found great help in a book by Lin Tomasso which I recently downloaded to my laptop. It's called Prayer Warrior: How to Get Your Prayers Answered. I paid $2.99 for it at smashwords.com. You can download it to your computer or any device, nothing special needed. The author is straight forward and funny, and will have you laughing at her real life experiences-she puts on no airs. Thanks to her book, I learned how to pray correctly. There's a formula for prayer which actually produces results, so if you're going to pray, you'd might as well do it right. I'm seeing positive results now since I corrected my former errors. I highly recommend both books, and I want to say again that Lin Tomasso's Prayer Warrior: How to Get Your Prayers Answered at smashwords.com will truly help you get your prayers answered so I’m spreading the word so that others can receive the benefits I have. I believe both these books will help every reader.

Interesting insights on angels

Over the years much has been written about angels. Unfortunately so much of it is rather far-fetched and just not reliable. I found this book to be very informative, but most importantly Scripture is the foundation used throughout. An interesting aspect explained is that we should not assume angels would serve or help non-Christians. The Bible describes angels as “ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation.” Dr. Jeremiah certainly provides interesting insights on angels, and at the same time this well written book will inspire you. The Bible contains more than 300 direct references to angels, and you’ll soon realize there is more to angels than you could ever imagine. Topics I found interesting – • We should never worship angels. • Angels are warriors for God. • God sends his angels to deliver and protect his people. • Angels are great comforters. • Angels are messengers. • Gender of angels is always masculine. • Angels do not earn their wings. • Angels are created beings – God made angels. • Angels are innumerable, far more that we could count. • Angels will be with us at the time of our death – escorting us to our final destination.

A Read through the Bible's Angel References

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. In my mind, angels are mysterious creatures, created by God to serve God. He often sends them to protect us and He did send them to deliver messages in Bible times, but I didn't think there was much more we could know about them than that. Actually, there's quite a bit more information available. In "Angels," Dr. David Jeremiah walks us through all the references to angels in the Bible to show us what we factually can know: where they are, what they do, their appearance, how they relate to God and to us, how they are alike and different from us, how they function in the spiritual realm. He devotes one chapter to The Angel of the Old Testament and another to fallen angels. I learned a lot from this book. Jeremiah does very little speculation. For the most part, he sticks to what the Bible says, and he uses that information either confirm or disprove society's current perceptions of angels. When he does offer an opinion or theory, he tells us very clearly that he is doing so, then he quotes other well-known scholars who came to similar conclusions: Thomas Aquinas, John Calvin, A.W. Tozer, Billy Graham, and Larry Libby. (And, to be fair, when other opinions exist, he tells those, too.) Jeremiah takes his research one step further by showing us in each chapter how this information is relevant to our lives. By knowing how angels worship and serve God, we can follow their example. In this sense, they serve as role models, too. Jeremiah carefully shows us how throughout the book. On a personal note, several passages in "Angels" left me completely in awe of God. The angels must have liked this, for they're in awe of Him, too. They exist to honor Him--just as we all do. If you're curious to know everything the Bible says about angels and why this information matters, this book will appeal to you.
