Has large ads for their online resources every 8 pages

This book has the same full page ad for their online resources every 8 pages or so-- it ends up being in the book about 25 or 30 times. I found this really distracting and distasteful. I've never seen a nonfiction reference book with ads like this and found it jarring whenever I tried to use the book. It made it feel like I was looking at a magazine but I was trying to study. I took an Anatomy and Physiology course and bought this as a supplement. There were some helpful pages but I found that it was too generalized to help me in my course as it lacked a significant amount of the of info I was responsible for knowing. I could see how this would be useful as a general guide or intro but was not helpful for what I needed.

Love it

Great study aid for my beauty therapy course. Easy to read and great illustrations make learning a breeze. Thank you

Too many incorrect statements and lots essential information missing . Not sure why this book has been a choice in my Anatomy and Physiology course

A Must have

I am currently studying Massage Therapy at college and one of the books we needed was this one By Louise Tucker. Not wanting to spend a crazy amount by buying from our supplier at college, I checked Trusty Amazon and behold there it was. Cheaper but exactly the same book. It says an 'Introductory Guide' but it is more in-depth than it seems. It has everything I need to learn for college plus more. If you are studying Spa Therapy or any other similar course than this may be the book for you. It also includes a pass for you to use online and you are able to test yourself too. The Illustrations inside are very helpful when you are a beginner and the words aren't complicated either. I would definitely recommend this book over others at the moment. If you are worried about carrying this book around, don't be. It's not heavy and doesn't have a million pages.

Excellent

Absolutely excellent book ! It’s been a very long time since I studied anything other than the TV guide and this book is brilliant for this rusty old brain !

Easy to read

Turns a complex, detail orientated subject into a colourful, light and easier read. I like the fact that it goes back to basics, important when you went to school many moons ago!

Makes life easier!

I bought this book to help me support my course ITEC level 3 ~Reflexology certificate. Brisking through it helped me understand the different type of system in the body which i was lost in understanding through poor consoildation of teaching method and relying on the introductory guide to refolexology by louise tucker - which is very basic in the prespective learning the anatomy of the body. i would reccommend this book who are new to reflexology and want to keep up with the pace of the lesson. in particular if you have a snobby teacher who doesnt like repeating themselve so they caN GET THROUGH ~THEIR LESSON PLAN! Their jargon becomes more understandable!

If youre doing the A+P course along with ITEC massage ...

If youre doing the A+P course along with ITEC massage course or any other ITEC course that requires you to complete a A+P exam, then this book is definitely the one you need to get as you will be working mostly from this book. You can of course purchase other A+P books ie Ross and Wilson or Greys Anatomy student book for referencing. Be aware though that this book gets updated FREQUENTLY. I brought the latest edition luckily as there was a new chapter introduced on cells which we had homework study to do. So make sure you get the newest edtion out there.

Great book

Very easy to read and understand

Very informative and easy reading

I love this book, its really helped me with my studies.

ITEC Level 3 Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology

Great book for anatomy and physiology studies. I’m currently working towards my ITEC level 3 and this book contains all the basic info. I have had to add to my knowledge with further reading, but I would recommend this book as a first look at the basics.

Good basic anatomy and physiology book

As the title states it is 'An Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology' and this is exactly what it is. If you are new to this subject it is a great start but if you have a basic knowledge already you will not find it detailed enough. Clear text and diagrams and I liked the online stuff too making it easy to access at any time. Not enough detail for an ITEC Level 3 course but would be good to use in conjunction with something more detailed.

Just what I needed

Absolutely brilliant book has everything in it. Excellent clear pictures. Brought this as I'm studying holistic therapy massage and need to learn a few of the systems easy to reference from.

All the basics you need of human anatomy & physiology!

Very good book for those wanting to learn the basic essentials of anatomy and physiology for the whole body. I most definitely recommend this for first year medical students, trainee nurses, beauty therapists & esthetians who want to really have a high level of knowledge. I am a trainee aesthetician myself and it has so far been super helpful so I definitely had to leave a review. So happy I purchased and it is definitely a bargain for the price. It does not disappoint!

Highly recommended

Extremely good book for a introduction to anatomy and physiology. It gave me a great understanding to begin with. Highly recommended

Too much promotion of online resources

Not overly impressed. The constant references to the online resources through out the book makes it feel more like an advert for the online content rather than supportive of the book itself. If I'd seen the book in a shop this would have led me to put it back. A more comprehensive index would also have been useful. Hopefully the actual text will prove useful, which is the real reason I got it.

The book is clear and well understood. One thing l like about the book is that the pictures are well coloured. I will recommend the book to anyone who is doing anatomy and physiology for the first time in the college or in the university.

Also the book could also be useful for health care professionals especially those who are dealing with human body and those who want to have an insect knowledge on how the body structure works.

Has everything you need

This book is one of the course books for the ITEC massage course which i am taking. It has everything you need in it, i would say that you will need maybe one other anatomy & physiology book that goes into a little more detail if you want to really learn everything well. I only say that because this is an introductory guide, so it doesnt go into the same detail as that of the more medical books used for nurse training such as the ross and wilson anatomy and physiology books. It is a very good book and has helped me learn a lot already. I would recommend it.

Excellent for studies

Very good book, helping me with my studies. Would highly recommended.

Study book

Great book for students, explain everything understandable and its easy to use

Great - if you like this sort of thing!

I am currently completing an Anatomy and Physiology course so to me, this book is perfect. It is not to big and bulky, has very clear and colourful pictures and is easy to understand. As stated, this book is an introduction to Anatomy & Physiology so if you are a beginner or just curious or even need to help your child with their homework, I think that you would find this book useful.

Good

Updated version since first one 2006. Just as I thought good teaching tool

Anatomy & Physiology

Great book, easy to understand, great value for money

It's great

The best book Has helped me pass my ITEC exam Thank you

A good introduction to anatomy

I bought this book to help me in my Biology coursework. So far i have found it very helpful. As it says, it is only an introduction to the topic. Still it gives a foundation to build on. There is also an option to register it and get online extras. This has been a really useful book for me, and recommend it to anyone who wants a book that starts with the basics.

Fit for Purpose but no more

Required reading for my course in Anatomy and Physiology. Basic information on all body systems, illustrations are pretty good most of the time (though it has a couple of moments) and it'll definitely help you pass a basic unit. However, this probably isn't the right book for anyone a little more advanced or looking for more in-depth knowledge. (Then again, that's in the title isn't it?)

Great details and fantastic little tips to remember stuff

Brilliant book passed my A&P with distinction

Would recommend this for all the student nurses out there

Would recommend this for all the student nurses out there . It provides all the information of anatomy in physiology in a simple and clear manner. For example , it has every human system and the functions of each feature . Very good for revision . Highly recommend !

Shameful

This is an extremely frustrating book, and I am appalled this is the textbook for the course my ITEC exam will be based on. - Having read only a handful of chapters I think a couple of statements are plain wrong, which means I have to google constantly to fact-check as it is not trustworthy. - The information has been pared down to the point of often not being explanatory - you just have to memorise what they say. - The meanings in some places are ambiguous. - The diagrams are often unclear. - It sometimes repeats definitions very close to each other, giving different definitions each time. - Typos have not all been corrected.

Great text book

Great a and p book to use alongside ITEC level 3 a and p course Clear and consise with diagrams as well as text.

Came in a used state but a good introductory book to A&P

Arrived in a used state with pen marks and stains! Useful book for the basic information to start A&P for beauty therapy.

Excellent for ITEC level 3 students or refresher

Really great read. Each chapter is clearly written and easy to understand. This is a MUST, will seriously help you to digest information, in an easier format.

Good book

Good useful book, helpful for course.

Terrible A&P book but you have to learn it for ITEC!

This is possibly the worst A&P book I've had to deal with for an A&P exam (its the official ITEC course book). The content is just plain wrong in many cases, the medical terminology is inconsistent and outdated and the editing is pretty poor. But sadly you will have to buy this book and know it if you want to pass an ITEC exam in A&P because the author owns the exam too - and yes there are exam questions where only the medically wrong answer given in the book will be marked as right in the exam! The author clearly never consulted any medical or scientific person in compiling the content and obviously doesn't think that is necessary and I'm at a bit of a loss as to why the UK education system allows this book to be the course text book after 10 years of complaints about it. Anyway, if you are up for a laugh and have someone to teach you real A&P then don't worry about the problems of Louise Tucker and her team of editors and contributors, just learn this novel version of A&P, pass the exam and forget it again! Going through all the mistakes in the book is actually a learning experience in itself..!

Four Stars

Found it very useful as an additional reference in my Reflexology Diploma

A&P Book

A great basics of anatomy and physiology. Has been of great use to refer back to during my beauty therapy level 2 course. Can't wait to find a more advanced version as this one just covers the basics. Perfect for beginners.

It's OK but not great

This book is the main reading material on my ITEC course and we were told that if we wanted to pass the exam then we would learn this book off by heart. It is very simplistic and also there are some errors in it but as the book is written by the same person who writes the exam we have to use it. There are definitely better books out there for an more in depth understanding but as a simple guide this book would do

No more than exam notes

This is required reading for my course & to be honest this is so basic that my university study exam notes were more extensive than this. I have since bought a first year medical A&P book which is more suited to my reading level & personal study expectations. Also, within this book are a number of minor inaccuracies but I suppose that is what is to be expected from a book authored by a school teacher and edited by three beauticians. My personal opinion is that this book should not be included on the 'required reading' list for any of the more serious therapies (i.e. those used for anything other than leisure & relaxation).
