"American Medicinal Leaves and Herbs" is a USDA bulletin dating to the dawn of the 20th century, listing a large number of medically active species living in the North American region, their then-modern value per pound, and their usage and habitat, in brief. While the use of such herbs today is not part of mainstream medicine, herbal healing continues in the less developed portions of the world, and among homeopaths and fans of natural medicine. The entire work is properly illustrated for the identification of plant species.

great little book!

I appreciate that this work will not be lost to the dustbin of history! This work deserves to be preserved and has information about medicinal herbs which is just as valid today as it was when originally published. We have so many natural ways of healing so any information about such is appreciated. This book is well worth the money!

Excellent Source

Beautiful book. The cover has a great look and unique texture. These books have a great, to the point approach to them. Clank on ole Styx, clank on.

A great resource!

This book covers over 30 plants native to North America. A description of the plant, its habitat, historical pricing, and uses are covered for each species. Do not let the 67 pages mislead you, all required information is available.

A very nice book, history and knowledge.

Great feel to the product and print, high quality, very enjoyable. love the size and having a new print of something from more than 100 years ago. Thanks.

Very informative

I found the information in this work to be very useful. Overall the formatting of the book is well done. I intend to plant some of these herbs in my garden, especially pennyroyal to see how well it keeps the state bird (the mosquitoe) at bay.

Incredible Edit!

Great edit of an old text and an interesting insight to botanical practices in early America. Would recommend to anyone interested in history or just plants in general.
