It captures the pain of losing a spouse to degenerative disease, the pleasure of finding love and life again, the thrill of starting over on a new career path, and the hunt for true love again and again and again via internet online dating. It explores the feelings associated with growing older in this ageist culture we live in. The reader comes away with renewed hope, passion, and a sense of awe at the beauty of life and what it has to offer. No matter our age, we are sensuous, passionate, and alive! I finally finished Ageless & Sexy last night. Men, stick around because this book is for you, too. I wish every woman would read this book in their 20s. Or for the love of Pete, by their 40s. And as a last-minute Intervention, in their 50s, 60s and beyond. Sheila has encapsulated a lifetime of sensual-spiritual wisdom in its most accessible format. Men, you are not left out of this wisdom, younger men would profit from the sure knowledge that they are not alone in insecurity, in wrestling with sex and sensuality, and that there is a woman (or man...) looking for them to step up to the plate and bring themselves fully to the table, in spite of the damage done by society to men's most precious and tender selves. I love that each chapter begins with a short, yet powerful, dialogue between our protagonist and her inner voice. I love Stella’s determination to embark on a new career at a time in her life when most of us retire by choice. I love her determination to find a romantic partner and explore her sexuality. I especially love the early chapters where we learn of the challenges and struggles that Stella faces in caring for a bedridden husband. It is heartwarming to see how she learns to cope and embrace difficult experiences during the course of her life. I also feel that Stella’s sexual self-expression is reckless. For example, she dates men whom she meets Online and after one or two phone conversations is ready to reserve a hotel room for two. It is important to tread carefully when dating online – and even more so for lonely, trusting, older women. Stella lacks healthy boundaries. Stella is concerned that younger men may not find her older body sexually attractive, yet she finds men her own age physically unappealing. If she wants to be in a meaningful and loving relationship then she will need to focus more on character and less on sexual proclivities.

This book was a fantastic and very important book for me. I am a 28 year old male who for most of his life was very shy around women, and didn't get very much involved with the sexual process. I was fascinated by Stella's adventure into her sexuality as well as into herself. I appreciated the "realness" of her character and the plot itself. In our everyday lives, we are constantly trying to better ourselves. We have our highs and lows, our struggles and our strengths. "Happily ever after" with another imperfect human being is incredibly difficult to find. Sheila Pearl's book is a great example of all of this. Ageless & Sexy is an intimate glimpse to a woman soul. The main character Stella shares her dreams and fears open and honestly. Every woman will relate to some part of Stella's life with her challenges and victories. In reading I experienced a range of emotions leaving me wanting more. I finished the book in one day as I felt I was walking with Stella and needed to see it through. I found it simply delightful. The topic of love and sex in both the Wise Elder as well as those who simply ... get ... older is almost a forbidden one. It opened up a world that I had hoped existed, but was uncertain. With the book's push, I found out that love and sex in my third stage of life, Elder, is not only appropriate but more fun than I would have imagined.

This book came at just the right time for me. I saw myself in so many situations within the book and it made me think "do I love myself more that I love him"??
