This DVD is a real value both in price and utility

I am an amateur photographer who purchased Lightroom 5 from Amazon on October 22, 2013. I was proficient in processing and printing 35mm and 120 film but had moved on to a digital camera. I had hoped that Lightroom would bring me into the digital age. It became quickly apparent that Lightroom was not intuitive. It is a great tool with many features that were beyond my understanding. I was then introduced to the Laura Shoe videos. They were well presented, comprehensive, and, most importantly, easy to understand. I now use Adobe Lightroom Classic CC and Lightroom CC. These have many new features, such as moire and dehaze, which are not covered in Laura’s original release. When Laura announced her new updates earlier this year, I promptly purchased and downloaded them. I have not been disappointed. They have retained the excellent coverage and explanations that I have come to expect from Laura. It would be daunting to view all the videos continuously – there are a lot of them. Laura has addressed this by providing excellent indices which allow the user to go directly to the video featuring the issue at hand. I will soon be 88 and getting this kind of quality is a joy. I should probably add that this review is wholly objective. I do not know Laura personally and receive nothing for this review. I submit it solely because I believe you will be impressed by the quality of her instructions and presentations. They are good values with a trove of useful and helpful information. I highly recommend them.

    (formerly) Not a Lightroom user

I had been avoiding Lightroom. I like Adobe Bridge, Adobe Camera Raw, and Photoshop. But I was afraid of Lightroom's catalog -- afraid that I couldn't control where and how my photos would be stored, and afraid that I would do something stupid with the catalog and lose all my photos. Laura's Lightroom training videos set my mind to rest. Her videos explored all my misgivings and answered every question it occurred to me to ask. Her presentation is straight-forward, methodical, and thorough. After watching her Lightroom videos on how to set it up, how to back it up, and how to import photos to it, I reinstalled Lightroom Classic from my Creative Cloud app and imported everything from my Adobe Bridge folders and my Mac Photos app -- almost 4,000 photos. I used her recommendations for folder locations, naming, and structure, which was much better than muddling through on my own. Once Laura's videos showed me that I would always know where my photos were on my Mac, and that I could turn on an option to write .xmp sidecar files (like I do in Bridge/ACR), I became a convert to Lightroom!

Excellent video tutorials for Adobe Lightroom

These series of videos are extremely well done. They are organized in a very logical order, and Laura Shoe presents everything in a very clear, easy to understand, yet precise fashion. If you are just starting to use Lightroom, this is an excellent way to get started in the correct way (organizing your photos on your disks, where to put the Lightroom Catalog. etc.), and if you consider yourself as competent, or even an advanced user (as I do myself), it is surprising how many tips and tricks that you will find out that you had either forgotten, or never had exposure to before. I highly recommend these videos!

    Thorough!

After searching YouTube and using other training videos, I am completely won over by Laura's production. She is incredibly thorough in her presentations, and she is amazingly responsive to questions. I feel like Ms. Shoe is genuinely concerned about my mastering the subject. My digital photography has taken giant steps forward with her help. If you have spent the money on Lightroom, you absolutely must get this training. The first picture was my original. I used it as my practice file while listening to her lessons. I didn't mind using it because I was ready to throw it away. The second picture is after "playing along." The change is remarkable. (Still not a great picture, but you can see the improvements!) BTW, I do not know Laura and I am not receiving any compensation for this review (although that would be great WINK).

Presents a complex topic in easy to understand videos

I have found Lightroom to be overwhelmingly complex and difficult to learn, even from the best of books. Then I found Laura Shoe's series. She presents Lightroom in easy to understand videos, paced just right, and in chapters that accommodate my attention span. Her teaching style is easy to watch and listen to. By downloading these to a tablet device I can watch a segment whenever I have the time or need. When I need to look back for a specific question, then I use a book (the excellent Lightroom Classic The Missing FAQ by Victoria Bampton). The book and video series go hand-in-hand. I have looked at other video series, but this is the best. Highly recommended.

    Learn Lightroom the painless way

I've used Laura's Lightroom series since I began using Lightroom, and was overwhelmed with all the possibilities, not to mention how I screwed up moving my catalog of photos before I watched her series. As I've become more of an intermediate user, her series, with updates, is always available to show me the next level of skills. There is still a TON of content, but Laura makes it accessible in bite sized chunks, and her table of contents works like a charm for me.

Don't wait - this is the training videos you need

I have been a serious amateur photographer since high school and have waited far too long to get serious about organizing my photographs. I've owned Lightroom for 10 years and stumbled around trying to make it work for me. Laura's videos are so easy to understand. I've purchased other courses and they were not easy to understand. Laura nails it and at the price for both courses, just buy it and fix all your organizational issues once and for all. She's so spot on I dumped my old catalog and started fresh with her methods. Yes, it took a while to cull through 20K+ photos, but it was easy, and most importantly, it makes sense now. I wish I could give her 50 stars!

Very informative, clear and concise information presented by Laura Shoe

I purchased originally the videos for LR 5. They were a tremendous help in getting familiar with LR and all it can do. Since then I have added each new update Laura comes out with. She does a great job in explaining and demonstrating all the various aspects of LR. Of all of the various tutorials out there, I continue to go back to Laura's the most as I find her to be the best in how she organizes and presents the information.

    Thorough Excellent training on Lightroom

This is an outstanding set of training videos for Adobe Lightroom -- from version 5 up through Classic V8.2 (the latest as of Feb-2019). Laura provides an excellent overview of what a Beginner would need, and then delves in as deeply as one wants to go in all the bells and whistles. She provides LOTS of guidance on what's important, how one should set up and utilize the product, and also freely tells you what is not so important. Her individual videos run no more than about 25 minutes in length, alternating between LR screen shots & annotations and some Power Point-type slides. So it's really straightforward to follow along, pause, switch to your own LR setup, practice, and continue.

    Great way to learn Lightroom

Laura does a great job with clear language explaining how to use all features of Adobe Lightroom. This is a really excellent way to learn it at your own pace. These videos are comprehensive and updated frequently to the latest release of Lightroom. I regularly view these to refresh my skills and understanding of the lesser-used features.

    Well done and affordable

Very much like Laura's video series. The fundamentals videos cover will help you understand how to setup LR and get you started on using the tool efficiently. The more advanced courses then let you dig in and start working the creativity. I have these loaded up on my iPad and review them often.

    Clear and Elegant Instruction

Laura Shoe's instruction of topics in her Lightroom videos is both clear and concise. She anticipates the problems and challenges that the Lightroom user will encounter and breaks each solution down in logical and feasible steps. After I master the basics, I look forward to her instruction about workflow and output. There is a lot of content to get through, but then again, Lightroom is a complex and powerful program.

Clear and easy to follow tutorials of Lightroom

Laura Shoe's Lightroom Tutorials are the most complete and easiest to follow of any of the Adobe Lightroom tutorials I've done. She goes step by step to show techniques and instructions, using a close-up of her computer screen in videos that is large enough to see. Indexes that accompany the tutorials are logically organized, making it easy to find instruction on a tool/technique without watching the entire tutorial. I only wish I had had her tutorials when I first started using Lightroom. They would have save me much time and anxiety!

    Exemplary communicator

Laura possess the uncanny ability to communicate what may appear to be on the surface extremely complex subject matter into its simplest form enabling any individual to understand. I have no doubt she could explain advanced calculus enabling any math deficient student to understand. She uses these abilities to make Lightroom come alive and easy with her latest videos entitled Fundamentals & Beyond V. 8. (2019). You will not be disppointed and glad you took the time to purchase same.

Learning is Front and Center at Laura Shoe

Not being young enough to be a natural, confident user of technology like this, I really needed a software course that would take me step by step through Lightroom and its many amazing features. Laura Shoe is not only an expert in the field, but she really knows how to teach! The videos are clear, the pace is perfect, and thanks to her I am now pretty capable with this system. There's always more to learn, but with her training at your side, it's easy, and really fun! Highly highly recommended! Tom Baker
