Active Minds Sight Words Magnets - Learn and Practice Language Building Skills needed for Reading (Ages 5 and Up)

I purchased this set based on the positive review for my almost 6 year old twins, who are learning to read and write in kindergarten and thinking it would be fun for us to build sentences together on the fridge at home. FORGET THIS SET! I wish I had scrutinized the words in the set because there are no nouns!!!! Try building a sentence with any meaning without nouns! You come up with things like "There is my ..." or "I like to go" or "She is little." I ended up buying a larger, better set to supplement this because this is useless :(

These are a great addition to helping your child learn their sight words, which is key in kindergarten now days. Gone are the days of making macaroni necklaces and playing in kindergarten. Now, by the end of the year your child must know their ABCs, a hundred sight words, and be fully reading level 1 reader books! My granddaughter started kindergarten only knowing how to sing the ABC song. The end of the year is almost here and she is now reading books to me. Just amazing! The key to it all is knowing their sight words. All 100 of them.

The cause of my low rating is that they also scratched up our new fridge. 2 stars because they are magnets with words as advertised, but mostly I'm full of regret.

I was a bit skeptical at first after reading all the reviews but I decided to give this product a try anyway to help my 3 year old to learn sight words. I am so glad I got these. It’s such a great product, I didn’t have any problems at all with shipping, packaging or otherwise. I also use these words to help her start building sentences. For example, if the word of the week is cat I will write that out or put a picture of a cat and I will take the strips from this set that I want her to spell and sound out such as “I see a cat”. She’s really enjoying learning with these.

update: received replacement and it's perfect! The words are stuck to the wrong aide of the magnet so they will only stick to a magnetic board with the word facing down. Replacement requested and hoping it’s correct! I’ll update my review when received.

My 5 year old likes these a lot. The only complaint I have is the shipping was poor and half the words came bent in the package but they replaced it no problem at all. The other complaint I have is that there really isn’t a way to form a sentence with these. I guess these are more sight words than anything so that would explain it but my daughter enjoys putting the words together to form a sentence.

The only reason I didn't give this set one star is because it's so inexpensive. 1. The magnets barely stick. 2. There are very few nouns so it's hard to make sentences. 3. They're very thin and not well-made. 4. There's no magnetic board included. The only reason to buy these is as an add-on to another set. There are similar sets that are far better. It's worth it to pay an extra $5 or $10 to get a better set.

My son started Kindergarten a little early. He may struggle remembering what his letters are, but we have the on my fridge, and they've helped him learn his sight words. His teacher didn't know what to think when he struggled with knowing his letters, but he knows his sight words without any problems. He likes moving them around and trying to make sentences with them while I'm in the kitchen cooking or doing the dishes. They help him have fun learning without him realizing that he's doing his "homework".

These stay on the fridge for our girls to see often and use to make words or recognize sight words in different places and in different sizes etc These are on the fridge, large sight word magnets on the white board, we use these to make small sentences and they enjoy it. This also comes with a ton of words!

My 5 year old took to these right out of the box. We made a game out of it and created a path on the fridge of all the sight words that he knows. Visuals work very well with him and being able to see his progress daily helps him to not only remember the words but it also challenges him to work hard to get all of them on the path!

I started by attaching a few very basic words to the refrigerator door.... “I can go”. When my 4 year old grand daughter mastered those I added more. She now can make small sentences by rearranging the words she knows example..”I can see you.”

A little flimsy but we love them. I only put a few on the fridge and left the rest in a zip lock bag. It’s nice because it’s at his eye level and if he wants something from the fridge we first have to identify a word. I’m very happy with these

This doesn't make sentences - just FYI. I was so disappointed. It's just words like "which" "were" "about" - no words that actually string together like "dog"! I had to spend another $15 on a whole other set :(

These sight word magnets are perfect! I'm a teacher, and I help my granddaughters who are home schooled (preK, K, 1st) and this is a great way for them to learn and practice. Our kindergartner and first grader are reading their emergent books with more fluency. The magnets are working much better then flash cards! I've already ordered the second set offered by Amazon so they can continue. A nice addition to this would be word families (wish list thought). I would absolutely recommend these!

My kids love this. They might not care too much about the words right now but eventually they will. right now all they see is alot of colorful color magnets. their having fun regardless.

It has helped our little girl learn her sight words, it’s fun to make sentences on the fridge too! Only issue is the magnet strength is kind of lacking so they tend to fall off.

This set doesn't include enough variation in words to be able to use them to learn the words and make sentences. A waste of money!

These are seriously the best thing ever. We have a metal door coming into our living room and I have these on the door. My son goes over them all the time since they are in plain sight. Having them has helped him read.

Purchased these so that my son could make sentences. However, the set is lacking "subjects" and therefore no sentences can be made. The most we could do was right a subject on the board and have him create sentences around it. Overall, a waste of money.

These work nice on the refrigerator.y 5 year old uses them to learn sight words.

Bought these for my daughter and every time she learns a new sight word she gets so excited to read them on the fridge. They have held up great over the last few months. No peeling. Would recommend.

I got these for my son who learns at his own pace. He immediately knew what to do with the words, has begun forming sentences, and his vocabulary and reading comprehension has improved tremendously over the first half of the school year with the help of these sight word magents. A great learning aid and great option for families on a budget.

These are great on the fridge. My 4 year old can read about 20 sight words now! She’s always asking to”play with her words”. They’re tiny but brightly colored stick very well to the fridge, we love them!

The sight words have been misprinted and not lined up to the magnet pieces which makes this completely unusable. Very disappointed in this purchase.

We had these magnets before and loved them. When we got these one's they were so thin and they wouldn't stay on the fridge. I would find them on the floor and its frustrating. I would not recommend if you need it to be on the fridge.

I thought these would be bigger. I wanted to put them in a box for a literacy center so students could build sentences but they’re so small and get lost easily.

I bought it for my son but not one word is correctly cut, so I have no use for it. I was waiting to open this closer to moving date and just realized it is defective and it is too late to return, disappointed.
