An Excellent Effort
This collection of devotions is an excellent idea with a less-than-stellar execution. Many of the saints and beatified individuals highlighted in this book are somewhat obscure. It would have helped if Caldwell had included an introduction explaining why she chose those particular people. The book should include more extensive biographies of the saints. It also seems to be arranged randomly; if she had a reason for the order in which the saints appear, it could be included in the introduction. The other issue with this book is the multitude of typographical and grammatical errors.
Not as Inspiring as I Wanted
Each day’s saint was mentioned so briefly, I couldn’t relate to them at all. And some of the lessons were obvious and shallow while others were meaningful and useful. The first of these were more like middle school reports on a person, and I got little out of reading them, but it did get some better.
Lent Devotional
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Every day, I read about a different Saint. The Catholic Church has such rich history. What a great way to spend a few minutes each day during lent.
Lenten Devotion
I enjoyed learning about a different Saint each day. There were several that I wasn't familiar with. It was a nice variety, not just the ones that we always hear about.
Get the Low down on Lent
I love learning and growing as a person and lent is one thing I have never knew much about. This book shared lots of great information on the subject and helped me better understand those that enjoy lent. Found this book on a book blog.
Mixture of Saint stories
I'm glad I decided to get this Kindle version as I could read about a different saint each day of the forty days of Lent. Many were saints I was not familiar with so not only would I read about them but would check online for further info. There were a couple that some of the info was different from online info but the majority checked out. One was Blessed Maria Teresa Casini who the book says founded Victims of the Sacred Heart but online info shows she founded a different group and that this group was founded by someone different. So confused as to which info was correct. But all in all I enjoyed reading about the devotion of these past individuals. It was an easy read each day.
