"Stoeke's second book about that intrepid screwball, Minerva Louise, is a rare find."—The Horn Book, starred review

The other chickens hate snowy mornings. But not Minerva Louise! To her a snowy day—like everything else—is an adventure. But this chilly, chipper hen needs something to keep her warm. What she finds—and how she finds it—will keep young readers cackling.

"Minerva Louise expresses a range of emotions from pleasure to curiosity. . . . A great choice for storytime."—School Library Journal, starred review

A gentle, funny book starring a chicken

Minerva Louise loves the snow but needs a hat to stay warm outside. Her search for one turns up some unlikely possibilities. Oh, Minerva Louise, you funny chicken!

Great gift of a young child, encouraging them to read.

This is a great book for a young child. We purchased the school / library binding as we wanted it to last many years past the child's so that they would be able to read it over and over again. Along with passing it on to other generations. There was some glue on the book that needed to be cleaned up - but minor.

Childrens book

This is a great book for my 5 year old.

Great seller

Better than expected! A classic story!

Cute book, lots of fun

My kids love Minerva Louise. My 9yo even named his hen after her. This is our favorite of her books, not too many words, lots of cute humorous pictures. My 1 ond 4 yos love it and my older kids like reading it to them. We bought copies for nieces and nephews.

Wonderful books

I used to be a 4-H Poultry leader. Our family and friends have come to love Minerva Louise. I bought these to sent to Japan to share with the families we have met through the LABO exchange program.

Cute book

Such a cute book. I purchased 2 for my friends that have chickens.

Sooo cute

Preschoolers love Minerva Louise

I use this with my unit on The Hat by Jan Brett. Children love pointing out ML's foibles and ask to hear "that funny chicken" story over and over.

Toddler's favorite!

This is my toddler's favorite book! She destroyed our first copy from reading it so many times

The "Amelia Bedilia" of the animal world

Funny. Witty. Great illustrations. Lovable character who confused just about everything! This entire series is a favorite of first graders.

Cute story

Unfortunately one of the illustrations was colored upon.

very sweet story for a preschooler who lives in cold country

This is a very, very sweet story for a preschooler who lives in cold country. The story line is creative. The story is perfect in length for short little attention spans. Even my kindergartners loved it and asked for repeated readings. I highly recommend it.

Darling Minerva Louise tale!

Fabulous little story.

Super cute. Your little one will like the pictures and the face-value tale, while you will enjoy the gentle humor that just a little over a toddler's head. A favorite.

A Hat for Minerva Louise

This book serves two purposes. Young children love to have it read to them. Older children like the humor of Minerva Louise's judgement errors. It's a very enjoyable book, ages 2 to 10.

Five Stars

Another charming book about the sweet little hen, Minerva Louise.
