In Victoria Laurie’s latest Psychic Eye Mystery, Abby Cooper learns that following the money often leads to murder.... When Abby is sent to Los Angeles to help train FBI officers to use their intuition, she encounters a case that only she can solve: a series of bank robberies in which the thieves made off with loads of cash but left no clues. Abby’s sixth sense leads her team to a tract of land recently cleared for development, where she gets a vision of four buried bodies. However, a site search turns up only ancient bones and pottery from an American Indian tribe, which is enough to delay construction for years. With a furious developer and dubious FBI agents on her back, Abby is losing credibility fast. But Abby’s talent rarely leads her astray, and if the bodies aren’t there yet, that means four deaths can still be stopped. She’ll just have to dig a little deeper....

Another Victoria Laurie Hit!

I decided it was time to get back to the Psychic Eye series as it's been way too long since I read one of Victoria Laurie's novels! As expected, A Grave Prediction was a delightful paranormal mystery read, light on the paranormal for this series since it stems from Abby's psychic abilities. But it's a series I've been reading for years and I love it to pieces! You can pretty much jump in at any certain point and follow along fairly well, the only thing you really miss out on are the personal connections and relationships Abby develops as well as her friends. In this one, Abby is sent to LA by the higher ups to help out the FBI office there with "intuition" training. Basically, she's to help them out like she helps out the branch in her hometown. But the LA feds aren't as nice as her coworkers, nor are they as open to psychics either. She's able to win one over with some sound advice on her case, and it's not long before Kelsey's got her back. But when she's trying to help out with a string of bank robberies, her intuition leads her to a clearing where there are at least four bodies. When they get to digging though, the only body they find is that of a Native American from long ago. Which means that Abby's intuition was telling her about bodies that would be bury there sometime in the future. Having made a bit of a public mockery of things, Abby is "relieved" of her training duties, but she and Candice (who tagged along for moral support despite not being invited or asked by the LA FBI) aren't giving up. There's more to this case then just the robberies and they haven't been able to find the connections yet, but they are trying their best. And it seems Candice is doing her best to "kill" Abby too. Kill her with exercise! If you've followed this series at any point, you know that Candice is the fitness fiend and Abby...isn't. Yet in this book, Abby is actually exercising and sometimes sorta dieting! Lol. It was a weird transition for Abby and she kind of goes back and forth with the liking it and not liking it, but she wouldn't be Abby if she didn't! Since she was separated from Dutch for the near entirety of this novel there was no romance in this one. Though we did get to spend plenty of time with Abby and Candice being besties, so that was fun and refreshing too! I also liked that Kelsey took to them fairly quick. I kind of hope she'll make a pop up appearance in future books as she was generally a decent character and good person! Mystery wise this one was creepy and edgy! There was murder, robberies, scandals...it's a book that kept me turning the pages, obviously, since I read it all in one day! Woohoo! I haven't done that in ages it feels like! It was amazing to be able to do that again! And clearly, if I was reading this all in one day, it's a book that was fast paced and literally, a page-turner! I've pretty much never read a Victoria Laurie book that wasn't a page-turner! I only have one more Psychic Eye left in my TBR pile, I am not 100% sure if it's the series finale or if Victoria had to take a break from writing this year. Within her newsletter she kind of indicated that things happened this year that kind of threw off her writing game, so in the long run, I hope it means that Abby still has a few adventures left in her! I'm even more glad to know, through that newsletter, that Victoria has things back on track for herself! That's always good to know! I still can't quite remember how I came to this series exactly. I think I just had the bright cheerful cover pop out at me at Borders one day and I decided to give it a go, because mystery and a psychic? What could go wrong? And I happy to report after 14 books, (so far, since I have one left to read) nothing has! If you're looking for that light and cozy mystery that has an added dose of paranormal tendencies, you can't go wrong with Victoria Laurie! Both her series are incredible and I can never recommend them enough to mystery lovers! Overall Rating 5/5 stars

Best yet in an already top-notch mystery series

I follow a number of cozy mystery authors and authors of mystery series with women sleuths. Recently I read some of the latest releases by some of my favorite authors of different long-running mystery series and was very disappointed in the dullness and lifelessness in the characters as if the authors had grown bored with their own creations and no longer gave them the same authenticity and depth of personality. What a delight to delve once again into Victoria Laurie's Psychic Eye mysteries with her latest release A Grave Prediction! Not only has the author kept the characters alive and vital but they are not stagnant but have gone through their own personal growth and evolvement making them very multidimentional. On top of all that this latest release has to be the best plot and mystery in the long-running series yet! Not only do we get to revisit the characters we already love but we are introduced to new characters who are fully developed and integrated into the story line. Ms Laurie has turned out a series of mysteries that all make it hard to put down her books! Each and every one has kept the reader torn between getting enough sleep at night and just having to turn just one more page....and then just one more after that...etc. But A Grave Prediction has got to be her best work thus far which given the quality that she has provided in the series previously was not easy to top. A great read that will have you fully engaged in the storyline and caring about the outcome without giving you nightmares! Sharon Stack

WOW!

This has to be one of the most intricate mysteries that I have read in a very long time, yet Ms. Laurie makes everything progress so naturally that everything appears totally believable. I hope this book wins every award that it is eligible for. Trust je, you will definitely be a believer by the ebd of the book. EXCELLENT

Taken from the jacket cover. "Professional psychics learn to deal with skeptics, but Abby has to prepare herself for a steep uphill battle when she's sent to Los Angeles to help train FBI officers to use their intuition. The Bureau is struggling to solve a series of bank robberies in which the thieves made off with loads of cash but left no clues." There is more of the synopsis but I am not adding it. I don't find myself commenting on jacket cover synopsis often but I am going too on this one. To me it gives way to much information and detail on the story line which kills some of the suspense. Ok, done with that complaint. Abby is sassy as ever with I love. Story line is fun but at the same time creepy. I do wish the reveal of the criminal been more of a ah ha moment for the FBI's in Abby's findings and putting it all to together. I am still enjoying this series.

I predict you enjoying this book

Victoria Laurie is way more than a simple writer..she is a Fabler, chronicler , a storyteller...when she writes she is wrapping you in her world with people you swear you know. You will meet women who are wife's and friends and more, you will meet men who are strong and supportive and find the humor in the women they love. U will not only read but feel the passion and the love the intense need for justice and the silliness of everyday actions. That happen between friends...This is a series for the character Abby Cooper and this is a series that if your looking for fun and for depth and looking for just a moment were u can get away from everyday and u can stop and breath..Pick up this series, start at the beginning and hold on for the ride.

Psychic Eye Mystery in LA

Another great book from Victoria Laurie. Be sure to read in order from the beginning in the series. I look forward to the next one in the series each year - it's a highlight for me when I realize the next one is about to come out. Keep up the good work Victoria Laurie! In this one Abby and her BFF Candice go to LA to help that FBI office and are met with hateful opposition. Another great thriller where Abby's psychic skills combined with Candice's PI know how get multiple cases solved. The girl time was fun with Candice insisting that it was time for Abby to exercise and eat right. Missed the hubby in this one though.

Fine story

I didn't solve this case as fast as I did in Abby's last case. Part of the reading adventure is trying to match the clues too. Some readers may not have the patience for the banter between Abby and Candice but that can be normal between true friends in life. Most of us wish we had a friend like Candice or a friend like Abby. I guess I'm saying that I really love to read and listen to the Professional Narration of Abby Cooper Psychic Eye Mystery; all of them. Any flaws in the writing are fixed in the narration. I love the narration with the added emotions in the voice.

Glad I'm back

For some reason I have fallen behind with this author's books. This one reminds me why I enjoy her. The story is very interesting and well crafted. Abby's usual psychic abilities are giving her information that appears to be in the future. If she can figure out what is actually going on now with bank robberies, she may prevent the murders of 3-4 young women in the future. Quite a bit of motivation there.

This book is the latest in a wonderful series that never fails to entertain

This book is the latest in a wonderful series that never fails to entertain! Quick, funny, exciting, and full of psychic energy, it's a book (and series) that will make you sorry if you read quickly. The characters will become your friends and you will want to see what's next! Abby and "her crew" are sent off to California for this installment. Along with her bestest friend ever, they are too stubborn to come home before they have left their mark. Read the book, read the series. Read everything this wonderfully talented woman writes.

Phenomenal Author!

Victoria Laurie is my absolute favorite author! She can’t write fast enough for me :) her story lines are intriguing and well thought out. You “think” you know who dunnit but the twists and turns keep you turning the pages! Just finished and it’s after 2am :)

An excellent addition to this fun series

Loved it! Abby Cooper fans should enjoy this installment very much, though you might miss Dutch, as he gets little to no book time. Lots of Candice, though, so that's a plus. There's a solid mystery which I surprised myself by figuring out (though not the whole "why" of it all). Lots of laughs (just what you'd expect from Abby). Some good new characters (some of which we will hopefully see again). All in all, a quick and excellent read.

Doesn't take a psychic to read these!

loved, loved loved. In the begginning of the book,Victoria says what a beyotch she was writing, but she can be that anytime if she ends with this great book. This time Abby and Cancdice are in L.A. FBI to help them catch bank robbers but Abby uncovers something far more sinister in a serial killer. Loved these stories and the empowering Abby's character brings to the table errr,FBI. My only complaint is so little of Dutch and Dave and all the gang, miss them.

Sin Diego? CAN Diego!

Another great adventure with Abby Cooper! Abby getting shipped off to San Diego was a great start to the plot! The change of scenery means Abby doesn't have her normal gang to help her solve the crime and keeps readers guessing. As a professional intuitive you encounter cynics and skeptics daily, but the hardest part is trying not to doubt yourself. Victoria captures these feelings beautifully. Abby's adventures are always entertaining and I hope these books continue for years to come.

Good characters in light reading series - I light the psychic connection.

I like this series - it's got humor and a likeable set of characters. It's predictable, light reading - just what I need some days. If you like something with an edge of paranormal to it, this is a great series. The author has the ability to keep an edge to the mystery and still add humor and a believable connection to the psychic phenomena.

Psychic Eye Pleasure

I really enjoy Victoria Laurie's psychic eye mysteries. I have read them all and look forward to each new one. I was really captivated by the story in this novel - a good mix of the use of both the protagonist's psychic and detective skills. Can't wait till the next one!

Another fabulous MJ adventure

Another fabulous MJ adventure. This story hooks you from the beginning, twists you around and ends with an unexpected twist. A good book from beginning to end. Victoria Laurie is so very talented and can tell any story and make it exciting. She truly deserves to be mentioned in the same conversation as stories by Agatha Christie. Victoria Laurie is one of today's best mystery writers.

Victoria Laurie is a wonderful story teller and is

Victoria Laurie is a wonderful story teller and is, in real life, a psychic! So when I read her books I feel there is a sense of realism that is often lacking in other examples in this genre. I love the characters in this series and this was a fun read.

The Best Abby Cooper Yet!

I love this book! Abby brought her snark out in full force and used it for the greater good. I loved having a book that was all Sundance and Cassidy all the time. The case has the perfect amount of twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end and enough laughs to make the journey even more enjoyable. It's the best Abby Cooper book yet!

Great read and well written

I think this was one of my favorite Abby books. I couldn't put the book down. It kept me guessing. I love how confident Abby is and I love how she and Candice work together to solve the crime. This book had just enough danger and suspense. I can't wat for the next one. I highly recommend this series. You won't be sorry

Victoria delivers another masterpiece!!

I love anything Victoria writes. I was sad to see the end of MJ's books but am hoping and praying Abby lives on for many more books. The stories flow and her attention to detail just makes the characters so real. I'm always sad at the end of the book because my part of the adventure is over. But what a ride!!

Favorite Author!!

I love Victoria Laurie's books. This is like #13 of this series and I still can't get enough of Abby Cooper and her crew. The stories are detailed and well written, doused with humor upon drama of solving crimes. Victoria really takes her readers through the roller-coaster of emotions with her books and keeps them asking for more.

Cute

Quick, easy read. Love Abby's antics, but the new millennial speak (i.e. Totes for totally, etc) was annoying. Wish there had been more Dutch involvement, but I did like the girl power feel t the entire story.

Another can't miss

Holy Amazeballs as Abby would say!!! Fantastic book again by Victoria Laurie. This is a series that can't go wrong. All the books are amazing with endings that keep you guessing. This one will be in my home library right next the the rest of her books that I reread all the time.

Not as good as earlier ones

Not as interesting. Personalities based on prior books. Good mystery. Clues and resolution too simplistic. Ending disappointing. Not a bad listen overall but I wish I had saved my money

Awesome!

Loved it! This book kept me engaged the whole time and the suspense was even better! I haven't found a book by this author that I haven't enjoyed.

Another winner from VIctoria Laurie

The latest in the Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye series is another great nail-biting read from the queen of supernatural mysteries. Loved it! If you like a heroine who is silly but badass and psychic but sometimes clueless, this is a great series. Highly recommend.

Great

It was a good book. Hope she continues to write more like this one. Will look forward to reading the next one.

Mmmm mmmm

OMG!! Good on you, Victoria Laurie. I think that was the best case/book for Cassidy/Sundance dance team yet. I'm intrigued for their next installment. I hate to think that some people are born inherently wrong but sometimes that's the only explanation there is.

Another great read from Victoria Laurie

Once I became hooked on Victoria Laurie books, I haven't been able to put them down. I always look forward to the next one. If you are interested in psychic's or predicting the future, you'll enjoy this series.

Good read

A uniquely crafted plot

Brought to you by OBS Reviewer Jeanie A Grave Prediction is only the second of fourteen mysteries in the series that I’ve read, and I definitely enjoy Abby’s wit and escapades and appreciate her work, even if I am kind of a … uh … skeptic. This is offering number 14 of the Psychic Eye Mystery series and it can be read as a stand-alone mystery. Abby is on the road again with her best bud and partner in crime-solving, Candice. The FBI group in Los Angeles is not delighted with the recommendation received from the Austin, Texas office who hires Abby as a consultant. She will teach the agents in L.A. how to use their intuition when working cases. It was also recommended that they seek her help with cold or challenging cases. Candice didn’t want her bestie to go into the atmosphere of skepticism by herself, so she surprised Abby at the airport, packed bag and ticket in hand. Their husbands would be left behind in the Austin office while Abby would WOW the agents in L.A. with her psychic abilities. Not only were the agents skeptical, they were hostile, especially those she called out for giving her fake cases with a side of snarky. Oopsie, first error. The real case she was presented with had interesting components. Agent Hart invited Abby the next day to go with her and other agents as they executed a search warrant on a huge, ultra-luxury mansion where they suspected a ring of high-dollar art thieves and fencing. They found a reason to get a warrant to look at the books, and hoped that Abby could help them find the home’s hidden wine cellar. The case that Abby was invited to study afterwards was a series of robberies at several branches of the same bank. Abby and Candice went to the branches; they could find some weak spots in the security or lack thereof in each branch. Abby followed the instincts that drove her. She ‘saw’ four young women buried on a new development within view of the bank. Big oopsie! When the digging began, the bones discovered were that of a Native American who had been buried for many years, shutting down the work. That hasn’t happened before, and Abby was very concerned as she knew there was more involved than the bank robberies. Abby and Candice are extremely well-described. Their husbands, Dutch and Brice, are well defined but not as much as their brides. Agent Hart was defined more than the other agents. She is someone I would like to see in an upcoming mystery should Abby travel again for the FBI. Abby is a strong protagonist most of the time; when she falters, it is either Dutch or Candice who help keep her from falling. One ‘fun’ thing this time is Candice working on Abby to eat healthier and exercise. I’m not sure that we would still be BFF’s had it been me in the hotel room with Candice! Eating healthy wouldn’t be quite so bad if one could have chocolate or sweet potato fries once in a while. But to get up in the middle of the night to jog or work out? The temptation to feel as wonderful as Abby when she realized the endorphins kicked in was tempting…but I’ll leave the jogging to Candice! I also found it interesting to read some of the revelations Abby’s friend gave her regarding some of her actions and reactions. Good stuff. The plot was uniquely crafted in such a way that this reader was puzzling over early on. The bank robberies lent themselves to varied theories based on how they were conducted, but who the real bad guy(s)/ gal(s) might be were fascinating as I ‘watched’ Abby and Candice work through the clues. I enjoyed the LOL humor; the author is adept at mixing the serious with the seriously funny. I enjoyed this mystery from beginning to end, finding it hard to put down for anything. The end came much too soon, and was almost a total surprise! The tension from the over-the-top scenes of suspense was worth riding the tilt-a-whirl to the end of the mystery. I highly recommend A Grave Prediction to those who appreciate paranormal cozy mysteries that are very well written and include humor. I might suggest that if a reader is sensitive to four-letter words, to be aware that there are more instances than traditional cozy mysteries. * *OBS would like to thank the publisher for supplying a free copy of this title in exchange for an honest review*

Is it strange that my favorite character is Candice

After reading Victoria Laurie’s last book in her Ghost Hunter series (which was her best by far), I wanted to see if she had stepped up her game with her Psychic Eye Mystery series. I do have to say that it is on par with her last in this series, Sense of Deception, and there were even parts where I found myself laughing out loud. In addition to her work consulting with the Austin FBI cold case division, Abby Cooper is now being loaned out to the Los Angeles division. A group of hardnosed detectives that have no interest in her so-called abilities. When Abby hits the ground running and gives a very brief reading in the elevator, she slowly wins over Special Agent Hart. She has a case that is going nowhere and with a bit of help things begin to come together nicely. That is until Abby is asked to work on a series of bank robberies that quickly escalate (or deescalate depending on your view) when she is drawn to a field that is being leveled for housing and she detects graves and bodies. Still trying to prove herself as a true asset, Abby has a tough uphill battle that might just come down to the wire for both her and the bodies that will fill the graves. Whether it is claircognizance or clairvoyance, Abby needs all of her gifts to get to the bottom of these cases. She is being challenged, but that is nothing new. With Candice, the type of friend that everyone should have by their side, this duo is facing down both an evil sociopath and a very dysfunctional family. Abby and Candice may not play by all the rules, but when it comes to protecting those that need it most, they will do what it takes. I love the Psychic Eye books that include Candice Fusco. The teaming up of Abby and Candice makes for an interesting romp and Candice’s humor and matter of fact timing keeps me both engaged and laughing throughout the whole book. Ms. Laurie, we need to see more of Candice.

full of twists

I received this book for free from Obsidian in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I really like how Abby’s psychic ability works. And how snarky she is. She and Candice work really well together. In this book, most of the characters we’ve gotten to know from previous books aren’t around. Abby and Candice are in Los Angeles working on cases for the FBI there. Well, Abby is working on cases. Candice is a tag-along that wasn’t supposed to actually be there. She still helps Abby out a lot though. And I really liked getting to know Special Agent Hart, I hope we get to see more of her in other books. I didn’t really like any of the other agents we meet. I didn’t dislike them either, with the exception of Special Agent Robinson. Mostly because we didn’t really get to know them very well. I had no idea at all who the robbers were. It made totally sense after the reveal though. And I loved how Abby got them to confess! I also liked how all the other mystery threads were done. And the fact that Abby and Candice have to actually work to find the clues. A lot of cozies have the main characters just kind of stumble across evidence. But this series has them actually researching and going out and interviewing people. They don’t always find what they’re looking for, and sometimes they make mistakes. All of that makes it a slightly more realistic way of tracking down the suspects, and sucks you into the story more. I read this all in one sitting because I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to do so! (cross-posted to my blog.)

Delightful cozy mystery!

A Grave Prediction by Victoria Laurie is the fourteenth book in A Psychic Eye Mystery series. Abby Cooper is a psychic in Austin, Texas and a consultant with the FBI. Her boss (Austin FBI Special Agent in Charge), Brice Harrison (Abby’s husband’s boss as well) is sending her to Los Angeles to show her stuff. Brice has been getting a little flack for using a psychic. Abby needs to prove her worth (she has to solve at least one high profile case) or she will be cut from the budget (government is always doing budget cuts). Abby is also to teach a group of agents how to use their intuition. Brice reminds her to behave herself and tells her that his wife, Candice (a licensed PI and Abby’s best friend) cannot come along. Now, you know that Candice is going to find a way to tag along. Needless to say, the agents in LA are very skeptical, and Abby is tested right away. The only agent who deals with Abby nicely is Agent Hart. Abby is asked to consult on a series of bank robberies. The robbers have done a good job at leaving no clues to their identity (very synchronized). When Abby goes to the scene of one of the robberies, Abby senses lead her to some land. She is sure that there are bodies buried there. Unfortunately for Abby, the remains found are those of Indians which raises a lot of hoopla. Abby is fired and told to go home. Abby does not give up that easily. She sets out to solve the robbery case with the help of Candice and Agent Hart as well as figure out why she saw a vision of four bodies. Will there be four murders in the future? Join Abby in A Grave Prediction and find out how she proves her worth to these skeptical agents. A Grave Prediction was just delightful. It was an entertaining novel. I like the characters and their humor (Candice and Abby were funny). The mysteries were very good (complex) with various details. They can be solved if you pay close attention to the clues (especially the robberies). There are several twists, turns, and curve balls thrown at the reader. The book is written in a nice conversational style (and it has a good fast pace) which makes A Grave Prediction easy to read. There is a little romance (between the two couples). I give A Grave Prediction 5 out of 5 stars (I loved it). While this is the first book in the series that I have read, I did not feel like I was in the middle of a series. The author updates the readers on the characters (not all the cases) and their past history. I look forward to going back and reading the other books in A Psychic Eye Mystery series. I am definitely going to read future books in this series. I received a complimentary copy of the novel in exchange for an honest evaluation. The opinions and comments expressed are strictly my own.

Definitely a fan!!!

This was my second Abby Cooper book and just like the other one, I loved it. Abby gets sent to the LA FBI Bureau to help solve a case there. It's crazy, there are several suspects, but I would have never guessed the one who actually did it. And, she prevented future mysteries from happening! There's also this really creepy kid, who just thinking about him now gives me the creeps. Ugh! It was a fun read, went fast and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't believe it took be until book #13 to discover this author. Finally, someone turned on the light for me!!! Thanks Berkley Publishing and Net Galley for the free e-galley in exchange for an honest review..

Victoria Laurie fans will be thrilled (as always) with this ...

Victoria Laurie fans will be thrilled (as always) with this new installment in the Psychic Eye Mystery series. In reading A GRAVE PREDICTION I fully expected another para-cozy addition to author Laurie’s long running series. While it is that, I’ve noticed this series is becoming more of a series that will also pull in non-cozy fans readers, as it breaks the cozy bonds just a little. A GRAVE PREDICTION will have even the most seasoned mystery readers guessing and struggling to find answers. There are plenty of clues, but not until the reveal did they then make sense to me. Well done.

PSYCHIC FOILS BANK ROBBERS & KILLERS

A series that will entertain and keep you turning the pages. Meet Abby Cooper, professional psychic and consultant to the FBI. When the agency sends her to Los Angeles to train agents on using their intuition, she encounters resistance and unbelief about her talent. As Abby and the FBI work to stop a series of bank robberies, the men start to understand what she is trying to teach them. When clues lead to an empty piece of land that will soon be built on. Abby senses four graves of murder victims, but when the area is dug up, only the ancient bones of an Indian burial are found. Realizing that the murders haven't happened yet she is determined to stop them, with or without the help of the FBI agents in her training class. Tracking down the identities of the bank robbers is also a top priority, so Abby is busy with her senses on more than one level. This is the 14th book in this series of 15 and they only continue to get better. You can read them in any order but starting from the first book you get to see the characters expand and grow. The characters are very realistic. The murder twists will have you turning the pages and the ending is always a surprise. The background and settings are well done. The slight paranormal aspect only adds to the overall storyline. This is a wonderful cozy mystery series that will keep you entertained from the the first to last books.

Fun Read

I’ve always enjoyed this series. The main character is likable and real. She’s a little flawed but like I said very real about herself I enjoy self deprecating characters. They are usually funny and down to earth. This isn’t a literary classic or going down as some classic literature that’s assigned as a school reading project. But, it’s a fun and easy read perfect for beach or escape reading. Perfect chic-lit Give it a try.

Abby Cooper

I love the series, the characters and the situations that Abby finds herself in. And I like how she gives information how being a psychic has its ups and downs and how at times it can be frustrating.

Abby takes L.A.!

In the 14th installment of the Psychic Eye Mysteries, Abby Cooper is sent to the FBI's field office in L.A. to show the west coast how things are done! Despite her reservations about going, Abby felt like her hand was forced with an unspoken threat towards her husband Dutch and his career. The head honcho in L.A. was very specific about Abby's visit there, and above all else, Candace her BFF was NOT ALLOWED to accompany her. I wonder why? Lol! So apparently Abby pissed off the wrong person with her awesomeness and this trip was a test. Politics really suck. Abby just knew that she was going in yet another hostile environment and was going to have to prove herself to these idiots. She really hates that and she should. I mean, she's a well established psychic, and has powerful people in her pocket for reference! So once there, Abby was lead to help in a series of bank robberies, which unbeknownst to everyone, would also lead to her trying to solve a whodunit murder before it even happens! What could possibly go wrong? If you seriously don't know the answer to that question, then you haven't read any of the books in this series! The very person forbade to go, Candace....is there. Wow, not shocked at all! The new agents that Abby are introduced to are pretty frumpy. Damn, give a girl a break! The very first agent she is introduced to, which is the only female on the team, is the only one I ended up liking. The feeling this team gave me was disconnected. I never felt like Abby bonded with them, like she had with Bryce and his team. Despite the lack of comradery, the story was pretty damn good. The detail into how they come about the clues, and slowly figure things out is really cool, and very genius. The only sore spot in the story for me was what Candace had done to help catch the future killer. I would have to agree with Abby on this one, I felt very uncomfortable with it. I hope this is not a path she continues down, because that would really sour me on further reading. All in all, I really enjoyed this adventure! Narrator Review Elizabeth Michaels blesses us with her talent during this fine audio reading. She has been the voice for Abby from the very beginning starting with, Abby Cooper Psychic Eye, Book 1. I find Elizabeth's tone perfect for Abby, however the fact that we are into book 14 and she still pauses during the reading in the wrong spots troubles me. Like she's not rehearsed first, and didn't know the sentence she was reading continued. She stops short a lot is what I'm trying to say. Her doing that takes me out of the story sometimes, and can be unnerving as well. Don't get me wrong, I do like her as a narrator, but maybe a little more practice before recording will do her some justice on this matter. I rate Elizabeth with 3 stars.

I loved this book

Abby and Candice go on a road trip! The FBI is lending Abby to the LA office so she can teach them some skills using their intuitive skills. The only problem is that the LA office doesn't really believe in her gift. So rather than go alone, Candice has her back and takes the trip with her. Abby is given a bank robbery case to solve and things become complicated when a future serial killer is somehow connected to the robberies. The FBI is furious that Abby gave what they feel is false information. So Abby is off the case in an official capacity. Abby and Candice decide to investigate the case themselves. I loved this book. It was nice to see how much growth Abby has during this book. Candice helps her to see some real truths about herself and Abby realizes she is right. I highly recommend this book to any fans of this series.

What a fun read.

Love the girlfriends got your back theme to this crime solving story. I found the characters timely wisdom of being true to yourself very refreshing.

Simply outstanding!

Where to start with A Grave Prediction...utterly fabulous, exciting and fun. I could not put down A Grave Prediction by Victoria Laurie for all the right reasons. The mysteries in this story were incredible and very well thought out, the setting, the intrigue and the relationships that continue to grow and get so much more interesting with each book are one of the reasons this is such a fabulous paranormal cozy series. This is a great "weekend getaway with you your best friends" type of book. The hardcover copy of A Grave Prediction is worth the investment for the story tucked so neatly between the covers. This was a truly great read. A perfect example of why this long running series is so good!

Very interesting and a good twist to the store

Abby is a professional psychics and she is sent to La to help train FBI officers to use their intuition. She ends up having to solve a case involving future murders and current bank robberies. Very interesting and a good twist to the store.

Great Psychic Story with Some Mystery

I wanted to savor it for a few days because this is one of my favorite series, but I had to read it straight through without putting it down. I had been looking forward to this one and it doesn't disappoint. Abby is so likable and real as a person despite her psychic abilities. She cracks me up with her sense of humor and approach to the world. Candice is a great BFF and sidekick. I love reading about Abby's insights into the cases and it seemed very plausible how people react to her. Now I have to wait impatiently for the next book in the series!

victoria laurie psychic mystery book

Have been buying one at a time to get the full series! Hard to pull myself away from these books. Eventually want to start reading Victoria Laurie's Ghoul books too! I'm not even a book reader normally, now have found that reading these get my mind off of all the chatter racing through my little brain too!

Another great addition to the series

I love this series. This book did not disappoint. I read it within two days because I couldn't put it down

Quick, Fun Read!

A Grave Prediction is the latest book in Victoria Laurie's Psychic Eye series. Abby Cooper is sent on assignment by the FBI to LA to help train those officers to use their intuition, much like she has done at home. Along with her best friend and partner, she is drawn into solving a series of bank robberies, along with solving the mystery of a missing teen. Fast paced, and an enjoyable addition to the series!

Good reading

Good reading. Kept me interested from the start. I have enjoyed the series. Not necessary to read in order but it helps.

Lok funny

I love this series it is a mystery and comedy all wrapped into one. Will definitely read more in the future

Abby Heads to LA and Sceptics Again

Absolutely love this author and this series. They get better and better. Especially the partnership between Abbie and Candice. This was a unigue plot with multiple directions to follow and lots of surprises. Lots of humor, scepticism to overcome and adventure. Read

She did it again

Victoria can write a great book! I love her mysterious ways and the inspiration she puts in each book! This is a must read.

Extreme myopia plus psychic powers

Where, oh where, are the intelligent and perceptive protagonists? As always, we are TOLD that the heroines of this novel are smart and insightful, but the reader quickly perceives how often they act in dumb and oblivious ways. Our star character has psychic powers, but frequently can't use them, nor her other five senses, effectively. Among other problems, this leads to the middle three-fifths of the book being slow and tedious, as not much happens, and few new clues are discovered. All the revelations are then crammed into the last twenty pages. But the most serious flaws in this novel can't be explained without revealing a couple of details. SPOILER ALERT. In that rushed ending, we learn that the critical core of the mystery stems from this: Neither our psychic, her private detective BFF, all the agents of the Los Angeles FBI, members of the local police, the staff of five different banks, multiple customers, the press, nor thousands of people who view a robbery video on the Internet, can tell the difference between a group of 17-year-old girls from the varsity cheerleading squad and adult males! Not a single person ever wonders if the robbers shown in the video might not be adult men. The author then tries to sell us on this myopia, by saying that the teenage girl thieves put shoulder pads in their ninja outfits, so everyone was deceived. “Stupidityballs!", to borrow from the annoying and fake youth-speak that the author sometimes adopts. And while no further reason is needed to avoid reading this waste of time, I will also protest the morality of the main characters. They state having no regret in getting four underage girls sentenced to 15 years in prison, for robberies motivated primarily by a desire to finance their escape from a serial killer. Yet these moral paragons, so pure in their application of the letter of the law to young girls, are also not constrained by it. They don’t mind committing multiple felonies, including framing another minor for drug dealing. He is a “bad person”, so getting him convicted of a crime he didn’t commit is fine, in the end. To which point in the book I regret reading, because this novel was a disappointment on many levels. The dialog is frequently witty, and the characters have potential, but the fatally flawed plot, the tedious development, and frequent inconsistencies make this a novel to miss.

Five Stars

Very enjoyable, well written story.

Fast-paced, exciting & very Hitchcock feel. Loved it :)

The psychic element is fab & loved the two main characters & detectives are two super strong, kick-butt women. Two mysteries to figure out. Well-balanced. [...]

Another great Psychic Eye book. Highly recommended the series.

I'm not much of a writer. All I can say is that this is a great book as is all the Psychic Eye series. Loved it.

Awesome book

Another great and gripping story by victoria laurie. I just love Abby Cooper rivers. Can't wait for the next story.

Excellent read

A good story. Funny and attention keeping

Girls Do It Best

I really enjoyed this female-focussed adventure with Abby and Candice in LA. Just a fun romp and a great de-stress read.

Doesn't measure up

I was so disappointed in this book. I've read every one of Laurie's Psychic Eye mysteries and found each one engaging, with fun-filled characters, lots of action, and realistic depictions of police and FBI work. I especially love how Abby uses her psychic abilities to help solve crimes. But this one contained none of those fun elements. It was mostly the Abby and Candace show, amateur sleuthing not even worthy of Nancy Drew. Plot points of Abby works out, Abby goes on a diet, Candace does internet research, and breaking & entering are about it. No action, the supporting characters barely fleshed out, our main characters never in jeopardy, and the whole thing just falls flat. In previous books in this series, I love the relationship between Abby and her husband, but he's barely in this one. Maybe the next book will bring back the feisty characters and exciting action I've come to expect from Victoria Laurie. Check out another story about a psychic, TEENAGE PSYCHIC ON CAMPUS.

Excellent

As always, the story was captivating and entertaining. Abby and Candace have a great rhythm and are good at keeping !me interested.

Not Laurie's best, but fun to read, for the most part

I have read most of the books from this author, Victoria Laurie, in both this and her other series, and am usually entertained and somewhat informed. "A Grave Prediction" was no exception. I was glad that the focus was more on the interplay between the protagonist, Abby Cooper, and her best friend, P.I. Candice, and their detective/psychic detective work than on their respective romances, as in previous books. Unfortunately, with one exception (a female FBI agent), all the other characters were thinly and stereotypically drawn and acted predictably, as cardboard cut-outs to advance the plot. The plot had several twists and several crimes included, so it was interesting in that way, though. The writing in this book was best when the author had Abby describe her using her psychic abilities and her interpretations of what she "got" to solve the various crimes in the story. Points for that, for sure. Not Laurie's best, but fun to read, for the most part.

Disappointing

I'm afraid I was disappointed in this book. Sadly, Abby Cooper appears to be getting more immature as the series progresses. With this book she has started using millennial slang terms, like she's reverted to being a teenager - complete with whiny arguments with Candace. She's also moved from using a swear jar to try to limit swearing, to "swearing doesn't count if...", to giving up any pretense and swearing about everything. I really had to push myself to finish this book and doubt I will be reading anymore of them.

Friends Don’t Force Friends to Exercise Until They Throw Up

This is a fun mystery, but I could have done without the subplot where one friend shames the other into dieting and exercising. This book was rife with fat shaming and food shaming. It’s one thing to want your friends to be healthy. It’s another thing to shame, manipulate, and emotionally blackmail them into a regimen of extreme diet and exercise. The characters treat the matter lightheartedly, but in real life, such behavior from a so-called friend would be reprehensible. I’m especially alarmed by a scene in which, after only half a night’s sleep, Candice makes Abby skip breakfast and then do a strenuous workout on an empty stomach until she vomits. Anybody who did that would lose weight fast, but they would NOT be healthy. In fact, such behavior veers straight into the territory of eating disorders. When Abby claimed to feel great afterward, I rolled my eyes so hard I think I sprained something. This particular subplot ruined what was otherwise a good detective story.
