Inside this beautifully illustrated book, you will find many different kinds of hearts: a golden heart, a wild heart, an angry heart, a heart in mourning, a sensitive heart, a busy heart, a jealous heart, and a brave heart, just to name a few. The book ends with an understanding heart, because as it says, "...an understanding heart tries to remember to make room for every kind of heart, because it has discovered that every kind of heart grows bigger when it feels understood." This book is simple, but in its simplicity, it's quite special and profound.
Suitable for children ages 6 and up, but also for adults.

This book has the ability to talk about complex ideas in a simple, playful and still deep way.
This is a book about different types of hearts or personalities. Each spread has one. There is a wild heart, a police heart, a golden heart and so on. This book has the ability to talk about complex ideas in a simple, playful and still deep way. The illustrations are clear and poetic, doing a good job complementing the text. This book can be engaging for both girls and boys, children and grown-ups. My 6-year-old boy likes it a lot. I would buy it for anyone over six. It has everything to be a hit.
A childrens book that focuses on the emotions of the heart.
I purchase childrens books for my developmentally/intellectually delayed daughter, who reads at a 2nd grade level. For a book intended for all ages, I was not blown away. The heart cut outs were cute. The use of positive and negative emotions was well thought out. This book should be read to children as several of the words are too difficult for those younger than 8. Young minds will need clarification on some of the 'hearts',.
Simply great
This book has very simple illustrations and there’s not necessarily a story line, but I really enjoyed the message and seeing how it all came together. Great book!
Many different types of hearts
A look at the loving and not-so-friendly types of hearts. This book bravely discusses both types and acknowledges the grey areas when it comes to love. I liked the clever discussion of what may be behind an angry heart. I really enjoyed the illustration style of the heart characters, too.
All about hearts
A book of hearts by Jesssica Laurel Kane Colorful pictures of hearts and the happy thoughts they leave you with. Some are very comical. Love the understanding heart the most. Cute kids book and for adults.
Compassionate Heart!
Extremely clever way to help youth understand emotions and perspective differences. Really enjoyed the thoughtful illustrations that matched the writing. A fun read for all ages. Bravo!
Terrible literature.
This book is terrible. I’m not sure how it made it on a Charolette Mason book list but don’t waste your time. This book is terribly written with no moral direction at the end.
Expertly Written
Such an expertly written book on helping children understand the potential of their hearts and empowering them to choose.
TUGS AT YOUR HEART STRINGS
Kane has written a lovely book that uses simple but expressive illustrations to portray the emotions we feel in our heart. Children often have trouble sorting their feelings and why they change so rapidly. This author presents images of the heart that cause positive and negative feelings. Kane uses one or two sentences to explain each illustration clearly. Some good feelings include laughter, curiosity, helping others, kindness, and understanding. Negative emotions involve prejudice, jealousy, meanness, loneliness and greed. Readers learn that it is normal to experience a wide variety of emotions and that we must learn how to cope with and balance our feelings. The simplicity of this book permits young children to visualize and grasp the concepts, but also encourages older readers to stop and take stock of their feelings. Highly recommended for all ages to read and share often.
Awesome in every sense
This book is an absolute delight and certainly, one of the best books, I have come across for my 2 little kids. They loved it so much that they insist on reading it almost every day. A book that teaches kindness, empathy, compassion, bravery and much more all packed in one cute book. It sparked a very interesting discussion with my kids and whats better than teaching kids about feelings and emotions with a beautiful book. Beautiful because the illustrations are very different and just amazing.
