Gluten Free eating doesn't need to be so hard...
As someone with Celiac Disease, this book is not only misinformed, but it could be downright dangerous. A little knowledge does not go a long way in the kitchen for those of us who need to avoid gluten like the plague in our diets. I like meat and potatoes as much as anyone. However, the reality is, I’m not into having nearly as many sandwiches and pasta since my diagnosis. I’ve yet to find GF lasagne noodles, so unless I’m making my own, the lasagne recipe won’t be made at all. Suffice to say, I’m not impressed and sorely disappointed. 30 Gluten free meals
Overall this is not a bad cookbook, but the recipes were very basic. For example, It offered lasagne, where the only change between this recipe and a not gluten free one is that the noodle she called for were gluten free. It did not really give me ideas on new things to try, just took basic recipes and changed only the obvious like pasta or batter to gluten free. Although I am sure these recipes are good, they just did not seem very innovative.
Simple Good Tasty
Food recipes that are easy to fix and are safe for CELIAC sufferers. Some side dishes would have been nice.
Gluten Free Meals
I think this book is nice and gives some pointers on how to cook Gluten Free which I think, in my opinion can"t be fully enjoyed without the recipe book into your hands and on the table where you can read the entire recipe before beginning. I have cooked a great many years and I like trying new recipes but, apps, is not a recipe book. I think I would rather buy recipe books and have them on hand for the cooking process. Books rule for cooking.
Very Lame
I think this book is the result of the author merely finding a few classic recipes online that were already GLUTEN FREE (or had an ingredient that they could tell you to use a GF version of it, no info on where to find that ingredient or how to make it) and then cutting and pasting them into this collection! And, they aren't meals really, just main dishes. There are 2 items, rice and beans and a risotto that could be side dishes, but seem to be presented as main dishes not as side dishes. There are recipes for any kind of breads/rolls, or condiments or deserts, or anything to make what is usually considered a MEAL. I thought there would at least be 30 MENUS for a meal each. There is not one single recipe for anything that is a challenge to make in a GF form, like really good pizza - or any "baked goods" either.. A typical example is that for meatloaf, this just a regular recipe which says to use GF bread crumbs - duh. Most everything is meat and of course, MEAT is always GF when you cook using plain meat Just about any website, or other book, dedicated to Gluten Free info and recipes will FAR OUTSHINE this recipe (not MEALS) collection!.
Gluten Free and easy one pot meals
I've talked to people about gluten free foods and I've learned that gluten may be what was making my allergies worse. I've read and tried a few recipes in 30 Gluten Free Meals and found they are recipes that can be cooked quickly and many of them are cooked in one pot. That makes clean-up so easy. Some of the recipes call for gluten free ingredients, but many of them call for ingredients I have on hand or can buy in my regular grocery market. I'm learning that gluten is something I don't need and I've also noticed how much better I feel. With all the additives that go into our foods, and the processing it goes through, it is nice to find recipes that get back to the basics - like when life was simpler.
Awesome book on my kindle easy reference
This is an awesome cookbook. Great recipes and simple to follow. Have made some and shared with others. Have several recipes bookmarked in my kindle. So glad I got it after reading other reviews.
Good
I have had a look through and the recipes look really good. I haven't tried them yet but am looking forward to it. The recipes will be good for everyone even if you don't need gluten free
It's OK
While there are some recipes that appeal to me in this book, many use onions and I have an onion sensitivity, therefore have to alter or avoid that recipe. Still, there are some very useful ideas here.
Gluten free food to try
What can I really say? It has different recipes in it that I can either use or do my typical bastardization & switch up ingredients. I LOVE to cook & am always working on making enjoyable healthy dinners for my friends and family! I work as a full time RN & am a divorced mother of 3 (with no child support or family in area) and raised my kids on homemade dinners - and there are days that I come home dead on my feet but I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to serve anybody p-p-processed crap food. There is NO excuse for that!!
