This was a great first instant pot cookbook to get as it explains how the instant pot works (which the directions it comes with don’t do a great job of). Also, it explains what extra instant pot accessories you might want to buy which is good to know as other books seem to assume you have these things. 6 ingredients or less is a little mis-leading as recipes need ingredients you have “in the pantry” in addition to the 6. At first I didn’t have these pantry ingredients (not having done much home cooking before this) but it explains these in the beginning of the book so you know what to expect. Most are things you would have (salt & pepper) or once you buy once would have for a while (olive oil). It also commonly uses a broth/stock. To save space in my fridge & because they last longer I use “better than bouillon” which works great in these recipes. Also, the ingredients in the recipes are normal things you have probably heard of or could look up & most importantly can get from a regular grocery store. I have tried many books since this for the instant pot but this is still hands down my favorite. Recipes are easy even for beginners & many are “one pot” which limits what you need to get dirty—really just food & the instant pot. This is a great after work/low energy way to still make delicious food.

I have several of Ivy Manning's books and regularly use many of her recipes from the Oregonian (newspaper) cookbook. She really can amp up the flavor of her dishes without using difficult to find ingredients. This Instant Pot Miracle is no exception. My only fault with this cookbook is the photography and styling. The dishes just don't look appetizing in the book. The photographs are dull appearing and there is no "dressing up" of the dishes. Even a little parsley strewn around would make a difference. I think many less experienced cooks may look at the pictures and think they can't possibly taste good, which would be a mistake - they are good. And easy and quick and all the other things that we love about cooking under pressure. I recommend the book, just try not to judge a recipe by it's photo.

We, too, are new to instant pot. This book is a great place to start. The “tasty tips” provide excellent substitutions. There are many vegetarian recipes (and vegetarian options in a meat recipe) which we prefer. I’m cooking several meals with the instant pot on a Sunday and we’re eating them throughout the week. We appreciate that the prepared food refrigerates and reheats very well. Yes, some of the recipes have more than 6 ingredients, but the recipes go together with such ease and quickness an extra ingredient or two is unnoticeable. It’s also been a thorough introduction to cooking with my new IP.

I really like the simplicity of the recipes. It is truly no more than 6 ingredients. I don’t think people consider salt/pepper or broth an ingredient. I made the Chicken Pozole soup after work tonight and not only did it make for a super quick stop at the grocery store but because of the few ingredients it was on the table in no time! I have made other recipes by this same author and they have been delicious so I look forward to making more from this cookbook. I bought the kindle edition and no quicker way to bring it up on my iPad!

So I wasn’t disappointed in the least. Great recipes with pictures. Cause who doesn’t want to see it before you make it? Made a few recipes so far. This is my third book for my instant pot machine. Highly recommended!

The recipes in this book actually work and taste great! Directions are very clear and are easy to follow. I have multiply other Instant Pot cookbooks that I have not had as good of results. My other books have caused my pot to say “Burn”. When that happens the entire pot has to be dumped out so you can clean the bottom of the pot. I haven’t had any problems with any of the recipes in this book. There are so many books to choose from, but this one actually works. Love this book!
