I Only Have Pies for You: A Wish Novel Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 279 ratings

WISH star Suzanne Nelson returns with another "foodie" tween novel with a serving of down-home cooking and scrumptious pies.

Dacey Culpepper Biel comes from a long line of pie bakers. Her family's shop, Pies N' Prattle, is legendary in her small Texas town. But Dacey didn't inherit a gift for baking. Her pies always end up as messy or burnt disasters. Even worse? Business has been slow lately, and Dacey wishes she could do something to help. Then opportunity knocks: A popular TV show wants to feature the shop! But that means Dacey will have to spend time with Chayton Freedel, her arch-rival and the cute son of the show's host. And when clues arise about a long-hidden family recipe, life at the shop may never be the same. With a sprinkling of luck and some Southern charm, will Dacey be able to find the recipe, work alongside Chayton . . . and save her family's legacy?

Review

Praise for You're Bacon Me Crazy:"Nelson crafts a breezy, food-focused read that teaches valuable lessons about working hard for the things and people you love. . . . Readers will enjoy the age-appropriate romance, and there are enough character development, humor, and bacon references to keep them entertained." -- School Library Journal

In this day and age, it is so refreshing to put books on my library shelf that deal with first loves, crushes, and kisses in a sweet and sensitive way for pre-teens to read and enjoy. I never hesitate to put Ms. Nelson's foodie series books on my shelves. I know they are age appropriate with sweet story lines and kind age-appropriate langue. I always have a group of fifth grade girls who cannot get enough of the Wish Series books for this exact reason.

This book was so cute! I somehow related myself to Darcey. I tend to be a perfectionist, and I used to get frustrated over making mistakes, but I learned to embrace them. It’s okay to mess up. The important thing is to take a deep breath and try again. This book had such yummy pie recipes and adorable kid romance.
