How To Be a Modern Samurai: 10 Steps To Finding Your Power & Achieving Success Kindle Edition
For centuries, the Japanese samurai were the unquestioned leaders of their society, maintaining their position through their iron will, Zen-like emotional control, and clan-building social skills. Today, in a modern world that so often privileges instant gratification and self-indulgence, few commit to the Way of the Samurai, yet this challenging path of self-discipline, self-control, and dedication will bring great rewards to those who follow it.
In this ultimate guide to making use of the authentic samurai practices and techniques in today’s world, learn how to control your mind and emotions, stay on the path until you have achieved mastery of your chosen art, build a network of loyal followers, defend your home from physical and psychic attack, use samurai spirituality and even magic—and much more.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2020The beautiful thing about this book is that it is NOT a self help book. This book prepares you to explore the true and historical path of the samurai without any pitch or scheme penned between the pages. Cummins is honest and clear on the fact that some may read this book and discover that the Samurai path is not for them and that this revelation is completely acceptable. This books seeks to share history in a modern light that does not bog the reader down with overly used dates and recycled facts that many of his competitors in the field cling to. This journey along the path of the samurai is a rigorous and hard fought battle that many never truly achieve. The task is daunting and the will required must be indomitable, but to those select few who climb out from the pit and reach the final wrung of Cummins’s ladder may just find the enlightenment they seek.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2020Another book of clear lessons by Antony Cummins. While not as illustrated as the other lesson-based books, which makes sense for this type of book, it's another book I'm happy to have.
I bought the Kindle version. I like the references and elaboration on various parts of samurai texts and other pieces of culture and history.
I also like that it explains how to do some Japanese traditions today, like having a tea house. I could see some people wanting to westernize some a bit more, but having the "base" to work from and thinking about why things were done this way is important.
Ultimately, I think there's something just about anyone could learn from this, even if you don't think the whole idea of following a path like the samurai fits your lifestyle. Take from the advice and hopefully find the path in life that suites you.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2022Cutting through the myths Hollywood has created. Antony Cummins gives us an in depth analysis of who and what the samurai were and were not. A good read for anyone involved in the martial arts or on the patof bushido. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2021I found this book very enlightening and brought up excellent points about life and ow to live it. It was also very interesting with the amount of historical detail and how it correlates to present, modern day life.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2020This book is a must have for anyone looking to improve the quality of ones life. Mr. Cummings presents amazing insight on how to apply ancient samurai ways to our modern way of life. Go ahead and throw away the other ‘self help’ books and make room for this one!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2020No, no, no. Unless you live in your moms basement.
“Ninja Magic” “Cast Spells”. Those are just two of the ridiculous things you’ll read about in this catastrophe. If you’re interested in actual Samurai mindsets, get the Hagakure and Book of 5 rings, The Art of War and be done with it.
Don’t. Waste. Your. Money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This book was my first introduction to the work of researcher/scholar/martial artist Antony Cummins and it was a great first read. In my time I have read many thousands of books and among those a ton of books about martial arts - and How To Be a Modern Samurai rates up there with the best of them. In many places a real eye-opener with regard to the true history and practices of the Samurai. Antony doesn't sugar coat the historical reality of who and what the Samurai actually were. This is a book I will undoubtedly read again. I'd give it six stars if that were an option. Cheers, Antony. Keep 'em coming!

Another great masterpiece to add to your library. How To be a modern samurai is not about swinging a blade while playing a role, it is recommandations about how to a adopt a better attitude in life while the author link them with samurai precept and it is perfectly done! Inspirant!
