- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2018In this book, Jen shares a much-needed perspective on our money story and how that story shapes how we approach our finances. I particularly loved the chapter on how expert money advice can hurt you, as the reality is there's no one-size-fits-all way of doing things, realizing that gives you permission to do things in a way that best serves you. Most of all, Jen's writing style is refreshing, the stories engaging and it makes this book not only practical but enjoyable. Things like cash flow and your bottom line are way less scary and this helps to empower you to take charge.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2018I was given a review copy of “Her Money Matters”. Now that it’s out, I’ve bought the paperback for my daughter. Maybe she'll share it with her spouse...
We’ve all read the "financial wisdom" books which dive right into calculating your net worth and building a budget, then throw more numbers and math in your face. This is not that book.
Jen steps back to look at the bigger picture. Why do you want more money? What are you going to do with it? Where are you going with it? What have you been doing with money, and how did your experience affect your progress? You’ve tried to win with money before-- what obstacles got in your way?
She's coached hundreds of women through these issues. She talks through the harder topics behind the numbers: taking care of yourself, setting the right types of goals, building your confidence, and being flexible & patient. She also shows you how to stick up for yourself and negotiate politely yet firmly.
Instead of just another expert telling you what to do, she guides you through the introspection and the worksheets to figure out what works for you. She’s quietly building your internal motivation instead of being yet another cheerleader hustling for a coaching sale. The “Budget” word doesn’t show up until Chapter 7 (Self-care), and you won’t even see a dollar sign until Chapter 12!
Buy the book. Answer the questions. Talk it through with people you trust. Then you’ll be ready to move forward.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2018As a life coach, I’ve been searching for a resource to give to clients that will help them gain clarity w regards to where their finances are at versus where they dream them to be. It’s easier to set goals when you identify your limiting beliefs around money and open yourself up to dream bigger. Jen gently reminds us of the connection between self esteem and our bank accounts so we can make the necessary shifts such as letting go of bullying ourselves and refocusing on our “money wins”. As a coach, I know that what we focus on grows, so focusing less on our mistakes and more on our wins will certainly help us gain healthy habits and increase our earning momentum. I love that when you close the book you aren’t left in the dark to try and implement all of her exercises and suggestions alone because Jen welcomes you to keep listening to her podcast, and join her online community where women from all over can continue the money conversation. I believe that being a part of a supportive group can lift your vibration; keep you motivated to pay off your debt, encouraged you to be a mindful spender, and inspired you to take consistent action and attract more guilt free wealth. If you aren’t 100% clear with where your finances versus where you want them to be, you’re not alone and can get started by grabbing a copy of this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2024Jen makes money a topic everyone can talk about. I really like how she connects our personal journeys with something so practical as money. As a Latina, I appreciate her connection to our culture as well. Definitely recommended!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2018Her Money Matters Podcast creator and host Jen Hemphill delivers her signature warmth, friendliness and professionalism to the page. Jen helps make facing your money matters less scary and less taxing. Achieving financial control and independence doesn't happen over night; it's a journey you can prepare for. Addressing not only basic money skills (just a small contribution to real success) but also money mindsets and the actions you can take to feel and be successful, this is an easy to read—and easy to use—guidebook.
The missing truths are brought to light through Jen's personal stories and experience and broke open for you through a few journal prompts, task lists, and shared insights accrued after years of working with women from every walk of life.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2018Having worked as a financial professional for over 25 years, I am always happy to see someone who has a great new way of teaching lessons that everyone should know. It still surprises me that there is an imbalance in the way men and women deal with money, but if more women were to read Jen Hemphill’s excellent “Her Money Matters,” that imbalance would soon go away. Great book! Can’t wait for the sequel!

There are so many good nuggets in this book that are putting me on track with my finances! The more I read the more clearly I saw the power I have over my financial situation and my future. Her Money Matters is so much more than a book about managing money.

This book was a great read. Lots of wonderful advice, that digs deeper than the usual 'save more, spend less'. Worth a read for anyone looking to get a hold of, or improve their finances!
