Our Company History

In 1928, at the age of twenty-two, Peter Beilenson began printing books on a small press in the basement of his parents’ home in Larchmont, New York. Peter—and later, his wife, Edna—sought to create fine books that sold at prices even a pauper could afford.

Today, still family owned and operated, Peter Pauper Press continues to honor our founders’ legacy—and our customers’ expectations—of beauty, quality, and value.

Pages of pretty good quality, especially for a [refreshingly] inexpensive notebook!
Hmmm. So, I took those [sorry, a bit blurry] pics, reading "No bleed-through . . . See?" And then, after I glanced at the pictures [at least "in person"--not on computer screen, perhaps], I actually *did* notice a little bleed-through with the marker, which is just a fairly-light-orange, fine-tip, Tombow marker--not a thick Sharpie or anything of that sort---and the pen I used is a fine-point and "not-at-all-heavily-inky" fountain pen. So, if you use Sharpies and/or medium-point, "inky" fountain pens, you actually might have an issue[?] But, you know, considering my own purposes [and most of my pens], I've never been bothered by the tiny bit of bleed-through. [Btw, Is there a better phrase for "bleed-through"?].Though I've had this only a couple weeks or so, I'll mention that, so far, the cover is holding up. (It would likely hold up better if I took better care of my things: the (pretty!) paper cover is coming unstuck a tad on one corner, but, again, I don't handle notebooks and such stuff "daintily"---and I'm not averse to sticking a little piece of Scotch tape on there to reinforce it.)The paper isn't of the quality you'd find with, say, Lemone, of course, but at the price I paid (which I don't recall, but I do remember I bought this because it's "really pretty," and not pricey)--anyhow, at whatever, not-high price I paid for this, I'm fine with the paper quality. And, by the way, the paper is [as maybe the photos show, or maybe not] a nice "ivory" color--well, maybe more of a light "cream" color; and the lines are faint enough so that you don't feel as if you're using a second-grader's [marble-cover] composition book, but they're clear enough so that you see them without sort of squinting, or turning on a brighter lamp.To sum up: As long as you're *not* wanting a notebook/journal in which to write "Very Important, Meaningful Things for Antiquity," or the like---and provided you're going to be using fairly "normal" pens---I imagine you'll find this a pleasant notebook to write in and have around.

I purchased this journal to use as a guest book for company. I recently moved into a new home. When I have company, everyone writes in the book. I decorate each page with stickers and quotes. It's fun to look back and see who was here and what we were celebrating, even if it was just a tea and dessert visit!

Peter Pauper Press journals are among my favorite brand. This journal in this Van Gogh print cover is lovely. I am both an art lover and a journal/paper lover, so this purchase was so satisfying. The paper quality is just awesome; it makes me want to journal more often.

The cover design is lovely & inside, the pages are very high quality, thick, off white in color and lined. I prefer larger journals as opposed to the very cute but difficult to write in tiny ones, so this one is the ideal size. Also, the spine of this journal isn't so tightly bound that you can't open it fully, so when open it lays flat allowing you to use the whole page and write very comfortably, which is as important to me as the look of the journal. Great quality, style and price.

The cover is hard and thick. It opens nicely. The paper is thick. The lines are not as dark as I'd like them but it wasn't shown as dark so I knew that. I love the prettiness of this.

Bought this after seeing a similar one at the Portland Japanese Garden. I have had this journal for a year now. It has been carried around in my back pack and still looks brand new. The hard cover is 3D, the trees have texture and the flowers have shiny silver filaments in them. A Vincent Van Gogh brought to life with great quality. The paper stock on the inside is heavy and well made. There is also a synthetic silk book mark built in to keep track of where you need to write next. Look forward to writing in this for the next few years until i need another.
